    While watching The Planets, be prepared to fight your way past all kinds of computer animation which makes Walking with Dinosaurs seem like the last word in realism. It seems that no solar or planetary event which ever happened (or which may or may not have happened) is worthy of mention here without recourse to lovingly detailed shots of implausible-looking collisions and explosions. These come complete with sound effects, despite the fact that there is no sound in the vacuum of space, and are enhanced by a range of colours, some of which are visible only to bees. Somehow Patrick Moore’s The Sky at Night manages to convey just as much excitement with little more than a couple of diagrams and the presenter’s hyperactive enthusiasm. Fortunately, this two-DVD set is redeemed by both its subject matter and its sheer scope, offering all eight 50-minute episodes of the 1999 documentary series covering the history of the solar system and humanity’s age-old desire to learn its secrets. Detailed indexing and scene access makes this a convenient reference source too, so amateur astronomers everywhere can finally bin those off-air VHS copies. Gary decides to play detective in order to find out Dorothy's whereabouts and begins by hiring a disguise(a Mexican hat) and a red Nissan Micra which he sit's in outside Dorothy's parents house to keep watch on any suspicious visitors.Tony meanwhile joins the Happy Companion Scheme at the local old people's home,in the hope that it will prove to Deborah that he is capable of caring about people other than himself.

    Settle down for a bumper edition of Strictly Come Dancing tonight as the show controversially bumps Casualty out of its usual spot and takes over BBC1 for more than two hours. It's yet another example of how the courtly Strictly has overtaken its brash Saturday-night opponent The X Factor when it comes to creating controversy and scandal. Before it even reached our screens, there was public outrage over replacing Arlene Phillips with Alesha Dixon on the Strictly judging panel, as well as fury over its head-to-head scheduling with The X Factor (a close-fought battle the ITV1 show is generally winning with viewing figures often above ten million). Since then, there have been whispers about romance for one couple and reports of an ill-advised remark from Anton Du Beke. Whereas, apart from murmurings about Kandy Rain's past and a rumour that Cheryl Cole had elocution lessons (I'd ask for your money back, love), there's been little controversy to report from The X Factor camp. What can't be denied is that these shows are massive. Tonight the Strictly contestants perform either a jive or a Viennese waltz.
