Released in 1934 and starring Moe, Larry, and Curley, the Stooges are three doctors who graduated medical school by being in it for too many years. They come across such problems as an overly chirpy nurse, a mental patient, and a combination to a safe swallowed by the hospital superintendent in the course of their attempt to get through the day.

And before anyone comments on how they would never change the music, *reminder* this is just for fun! :) ... and i do realise that. I did actually make a Murray Gold version to add on to the end, but decided against it at the last minute as i would rather this video stand on its own. I can upload the 'classic theme' version if requested. (^^,) This was not based on any other shows opening credits and is not for any competition, i just had the urge to use this piece of music as i have always loved it, and thought it would be great for credits. I have also attempted to make sure i stuck to the standard timeframe for most opening titles, which is between 35-50 seconds. Classic Movies: Dr. Christian Meets the Women DVD (1940)
Dr. Christian Meets the Women is an excellent entry in the amazingly popular Depression era Dr. Christian series. Dr. Christian is a good natured and clever town doctor played by Jean Hersholt. Hersholt first played Dr. Christian on the radio and his friendly Danish accent and humble manner was an enormous success. The character translated well onto the silver screen and six movies were made and well received. Eerily pertinent today, Dr. Christian Meets the Women involves a quack doctor who’s selling miracle diet pills. It’s up to our good doctor to rectify the damage done by the poor quality drugs. Dr. Christian Meets the Women is a fine film that’s wholesome and genuine.

Bart Ehrman's Book, " Jesus, Interrupted: Revealing the Hidden Contradictions in the Bible "
Is the Bible authentic? Who really wrote the Bible? Was the bible corrupted as Muslims claim? Scholar Bart Ehrman's new book explores how scribes through both omission and intention changed the Bible. Jesus, Interrupted: Revealing the Hidden Contradictions in the Bible (And Why We Don't Know About Them) Bart Ehrman is a New Testament scholar and textual critic of early Christianity, he is the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He came to UNC in 1988, after four years of teaching at Rutgers University. Prof. Ehrman completed his M.Div. and Ph.D. degrees at Princeton Seminary, where his 1985 doctoral dissertation was awarded magna cum laude. Since then he has published extensively in the fields of New Testament and Early Christianity, having written or edited nineteen books, numerous articles, and dozens of book reviews. Virginia Opera invites audiences to toast the holidays and fall head-over-heels for Gaetano Donizetti's romantic comedy "The Elixir of Love", coming to the stage in nine romping performances from Nov. 14 through Dec. 6 in Norfolk, Richmond and Fairfax, Va. Last staged here in 1998, "The Elixir of Love" is the classic love potion story, with a comic twist. In the Italian countryside, the young farmer Nemorino drinks a "magical" elixir in the hope it will help him win the love of Adina, the prettiest girl in town. Little does he know the potion, sold to him by a quack doctor, is little more than ordinary red wine. Soprano Jane Redding makes a delightful return to Virginia Opera's stage as Adina, having earned high praise from critics for previous comedic roles here, including Poppea in "Agrippina" (2007) and Susanna in "The Marriage of Figaro" (2006). Making their company debuts are tenor Joshua Kohl as the love struck farmer Nemorino and baritone Stephen Hartley as the debonair Sergeant Belcore. The cast of five is topped off by returning bass-baritone Todd Robinson as the traveling cure-all salesman, Dr. Dulcamara, and soprano Allison Pohl as Gianetta. Mr. Robinson virtually stole the show with his moving aria as Prince Gremin in "Eugene Onegin" earlier this year, and Ms. Pohl is an exciting talent who last season was a member of the company's Spectrum Resident Artist program for young artists. Returning with a re-envisioned staging of "The Elixir of Love" is acclaimed Broadway stage director and choreographer Dorothy Danner, praised for her previous work at Virginia Opera, including most recently "Lucia di Lammermoor" (2008), "Susannah" and "Carmen" (2006), and "La Traviata" (2005). The Virginia Symphony Orchestra provides the orchestra for this production. Visit www.vaopera.org/elixir for more details.

Vintage Cancer Facts and Information Classic Old Movie
You are the Switchman educates people on the warning signs of cancer and urges them to consult a medical professional at any sign of danger. Two parallel stories unfold, all about a man who finds a sore on his lip that won’t seem to heal. In one story, he refuses to go to the doctor until it is too late. In the other, the victim consults a physician early on, which allows him to happily smoke a pipe with his wife and son, cured of his cancer. Various treatments for cancer are discussed, including x-rays, radium, and surgery, but the film makes the point that early detection is the best way to survive cancer. The film gives the survival rates for certain types of cancer, including breast, skin, and uterine cancer. The title of the film reveals its overall message: like a railroad worker who switches train tracks, individuals must decide whether they’re going to take the track towards early prevention and health, or inaction and death. A wonderful vintage film on the powerful threat that is ...

His running times start worsening and Dick feels like he’s listless and tired all the time. He even falls asleep at a party, making his sweetheart angry. His family doctor diagnoses the problem as lack of sleep and advises Dick to make time for rest. The film goes on to recommend limiting study time, taking a warm bath before bed, and sleeping in a cool, well-ventilated bedroom. With this advice, Dick is soon running at the top of his game again.

Geoffrey Shaw: What Grandfather Plays; Five pieces for Piano
1-The Pony Gallops; 2-Mrs. Duck; 3-The Shepherd to his Lambs; 4-The Brave Tin Soldier; 5-Grandfather Clock. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Geoffrey Shaw (1879-1943) was an English organist, music educator, and composer (pupil of Stanford at Cambridge), who, with his brother Martin (1875-1958) was important in the revival of English church and other vocal music (in particular many part-songs). The brothers were (uniquely) made honorary Lambeth doctors of music by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1932. Geoffrey composed a ballet, orchestral music, chamber and piano works, but these are all neglected. For more on Geoffrey's work, see: http://www.bach-cantatas.com/Lib/Shaw-Geoffrey.htm This charming set of piano pieces was published in 1934 and dedicated to 'Drusilla and Geoffrey' who I assume were his own grandchildren. His son Sebastian (1905-94; who became a Shakespearian actor, and eclipsed his father's global fame by playing the role of Anakin Skywalker in 'Return of the Jedi') had a daughter named Drusilla (later Drusilla McLeod) and, although she would have been very young, was probably one of the dedicatees. The pieces seem to have been written for adults to play for children, and, although small-scale, are not easy. At the end of the last piece, the clock whirrs and chimes 6 o'clock - presumably supper time. I have reproduced the interesting cover-art from the score on the title slides for each piece. This shows a grandfather playing the piano with a small child on his lap. The picture is by MC Shoosmith. This I take to be Marjorie Shoosmith, brought up in India, and married to the architect Arthur Gordon Shoosmith, who was prominent, with Lutyens in the design of building for New Delhi. Marjorie painted ia miniature in Mughal style of her husband handing over the plans of the city to the British Viceroy. The Shoosmiths returned to England in the early 1930s. ---------------------------------------------
