London: 11 September 2008 My third off-patch trip in four days, this time it was up to Curzon Mayfair for a world premiere. Not too many fans here tonight in the crisp air and just as well, because we were kept across the un-closed road dodging traffic, taxis and limos to get a glimpse. The big draw was Dustin Hoffman who appeared but couldnt be persuaded to risk becoming a hit and run victim to sign for the screaming ones. Plenty of others gave it a go so it was rather like pilot for Celebrity Chicken. The body count was zero fortunately thanks to the vigilant security folk. The size of the premiere meant no arc lights so the footage has that arty feel to it in homage to the venue; Curzon is the spiritual home of Indie film in London. it's unclear when workers furloughed at santa fe's upscale las camapanas community will return to work. but people who live in that exclusive community are trying to make sure those workers keep getting a paycheck. gadi schwartz is live in our santa fe bureau with tonight's top story. they may have lost their jobs- because of a corporate money fight. but now the members of las campanas ---- the community they used to work at --- are stepping up to the plate to take care of those -- who used to take care of them. empty greens- empty tennis courts-- and empty pools - throughout hundreds of acres on one of new mexico's weathliest developments. but members of las campanas in santa fe say - its not the closing of their club and spa that concerns them- its the people who used to work there. these are good people minute thumbnail 06:01 pm they are good people our fellow santa feans and we have to do everything that we can possibly do. today- las campanas residents told us about a plan to raise a hundred thousand dollars to supplement those workers who are now trying to get unemployment. this is designed to keep bread on the table. last week- the oasis management group indefinitely furloughed over 150 people. employees here are considered family and you'd be astounded at the number of emails and pledges i've got. as of today we are certainly over 60,000 dollars. members say money trouble between the owners of the las campanas development -- lloyds bank of england -- and the management group is what led to the furloughs. but some people who live at las campanas say thats no excuse to put more than a hundred people out of work. when you fire a hundred and fifty people and give them 0 notice and zero severance thats just criminally wrong. that's the kind of thing that people that are minute thumbnail 06:02 pm completely heartless do and thats what we are trying to rectify. organizers say they will pass out checks to furloughed workers on october 2nd in front of the las campanas sales office.
