  • ...an energy revolution! Join us at http://greenpeace.org/energyrevolution The Energy [R]evolution is Greenpeace's plan to save the planet from catastrophic climate change. The 200-page document was developed with specialists from the Institute of Technical Thermodynamics at the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) and more than 30 scientists and engineers from universities, institutes and the renewable energy industry around the world. When man first walked, upon the moon It defined a generation As this new millennium dawns, we face a greater challenge Climate change threatens our very existence What further disasters will convince world leaders That the existing technology In renewable energy Offers the last remaining hope, for a sustainable future? Hollow words and spineless resolution have failed us Now is the time for an energy revolution Will we look into the eyes of our children and tell them That we had the opportunity, but lacked the courage? Will we look into the eyes of our children and tell them That we had the technology, but lacked the vision? Or will we look into the eyes of our children and tell them That we faced our challenge Like our fathers, before us And fought, For the Energy [R]evolution!

  • The R101 airship was built at Cardington and made her first flight in October 1929. At 777ft, she was the largest airship in the world. There were a number of minor mishaps on her initial flights including sluggishness and lack of lift. In June 1930 she went into a steep dive for over 500ft when returning from the Hendon air show. The crew managed to bring her back under control, only to have to deal with a second and a third dive. The R101 plainly had significant problems but Lord Thomson, the Secretary of State for Air, insisted that the R101 be ready for a flight to India on the 4th October 1930. Lord Thomson had personal political ambitions in India and wanted to see a regular airship service from London to Karachi, via Egypt. As a result of this pressure, repairs were hurried and the airship patched with a rubber solution. On the evening of 4th October the R101 left Cardington. She carried 42 crew, 6 officials and 6 passengers. A crowd of over 3,000 came to watch the departure. The start of the journey was not propitious; ballast had to be dumped to compensate for over loading, strong winds were encountered and the aft engines broke down. At approximately 2 am the R101 passed over Beauvais, a French city to the north-west of Paris. Already flying at very low altitude she went into a dive and despite all the efforts of the crew she crashed just south of the city. The airship ran along the ground for some distance before being engulfed by flames. Forty eight people died in the tragedy. National feeling surrounding the disaster was huge; the funeral procession through London was watched by thousands. The bodies were then taken by special train to Bedford to be laid to rest in a communal grave in Cardington cemetery. Statistics: Length 777ft, Diameter 131.3ft, Speed 71mph, Volume 5,509,753cft

  • From the Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee, MA, comes this video shot with two XDCam EX. This is a shock video of the "Shockwave" truck, driven by Kent Shockley and designed by his dad, Les Shockley, on it's (unexpectedly) final run. Something went wrong while the truck was at-speed, causing it to veer to the right and do a series of rolls. Footage was taken from two cameras and there is a slow motion replay near the end, showing what happened in more detail. The driver miraculously escaped uninjured, thanks to the great safety engineering that went into the cab of the truck. • Watch the amazing "Gallopin' Gertie" November 7, 1940 video clip. 1940 Tacoma Narrows Bridge Slender, elegant and graceful, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge stretched like a steel ribbon across Puget Sound in 1940. The third longest suspension span in the world opened on July 1st. Only four months later, the great span's short life ended in disaster. "Galloping Gertie," collapsed in a windstorm on November 7,1940. The bridge became famous as "the most dramatic failure in bridge engineering history." Now, it's also "one of the world's largest man-made reefs." The sunken remains of Galloping Gertie were placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992 to protect her from salvagers. A dramatic tale of failure and success The story of the failure of the 1940 Narrows Bridge and the success of the Current Narrows Bridge is a great American saga. When Galloping Gertie splashed into Puget Sound, it created ripple effects across the nation and around the world. The event changed forever how engineers design suspension bridges. Gertie's failure led to the safer suspension spans we use today.

  • We are a collective of physicists, biologists, mathematicians, and engineers who have dedicated themselves to the further understanding of our universe through sound science. In 1973, Dr. Hans M Talbot finished the groundbreaking “Talbot Theorom”. Over the past 30 years we have continued to refine this equation and apply it in the private and public sector The Quanta Group Society has helped create more efficient packaging design, helped our armed forces deal with risk assessment, helped our farmers with predictive patterning, helped our banking sector with market forecasting, and even helped fight the war on terror. Our focus is natural disaster and mortality forecasting. Our group’s methodologies are based on SCIENCE, not on BELIEF or FAITH. We require rigorous testing and re-testing as proof that our methodologies and solutions are sound.

  • Video on a Prophecy of French Prophet Nostradamus and the CERN LHC particle accelerator creating a Black Hole or Strangelet Doomsday for earth. A prophecy of French prophet Nostradamus, 9 44, may predict the CERN Large Hadron Collider LHC proton particle accelerator being built near Geneva on the France Swiss border may produce a black hole or strangelet particle that could swallow earth or cause some other great disaster. Also a Book of Revelation prophecy and King James version English Bible Code matrices on this subject. RAYPOZ in Century 9 Number 44 may refer to the positive ray of the LHC. Could this be a Doomsday Machine? Could this cause the 2012 Mayan calendar destruction of earth? Did Nostradamus warn us from 400 years ago about "nuclear physicists gone wild" creating a Doomsday Machine with the CERN LHC? Copyright 2008 by T. Chase. The LHC will be turned on again later in 2009, they are cranking it up now, who knows what will happen then. If there are a lot of volcanos and earthquakes later in 2010 - 2012 after CERN cranks up the LHC Black Hole Machine, then it may mean a CERN created Black Hole is eating earth's core, collapsing the earth from within as the core disappears. Nothing can be done then, if a Black Hole has been created and has gone to the center of the earth, which it will do because it is heavier than anything on earth, earth will be on its way to a Black Hole or Strangelet Doomsday within a few years, the earth's crust will crack like an egg shell. But science must go forward! This could be the cause of the prophesied December 21 2012 Mayan calendar Doomsday. I know I will be called a "kook" because of this video talking about Nostradamus, but there are respected scientists who are concerned about CERN destroying earth by creating a Black Hole or Strangelet. Read about it, search for articles on search engines by typing "Black Hole Doomsday", tell your friends and family about this. A good web site on the CERN Black Hole hazard: http://misunderstooduniverse.com. This video is from the R

  • The Concorde, loaded with fuel for the trans-Atlantic flight, went down shortly after takeoff, crashing near the town of Gonesse, about 10 miles north of Paris, at 4:44 p.m. local time. All 109 people on board were killed. Three children were among the passengers. Four people in a local hotel on died, with a dozen people on the ground injured. A French judge ordered Continental Airlines and five people to stand trial for manslaughter in connection with the horrific crash of a Concorde jet that killed 113 people eight years ago in France, a prosecutor said July 2008. Two of the people to be tried are employees of Continental, the prosecutor in the Paris suburb of Pontoise said in a statement. Two others were employed by Aerospatiale, the maker of Concorde and the precursor of plane-maker Airbus. The fifth is an employee of the French civilian aviation authority. The No2 main gear wheel tyre is missing after the explosive burst and that un-burnt fuel is flowing from the ruptured tank. A few feet from the tank around the engine area the fuel appears to be being ignited from the fuel that is already burning. The initial cause of the ignition is believed to be from sparks derived from shorted wiring in the landing gear bay area. French investigators blamed a titanium strip on the runway from a Continental Airlines DC-10, which took off just before the luxury jet. John Taylor, a mechanic who allegedly fitted the non-standard strip is to stand trial for manslaughter. The titanium strip caused one of the Concorde's tires to burst, which sent debris flying into its fuel tanks. Continental's chief of maintenance Stanley Ford will also stand trial for manslaughter. The French judicial inquiry also determined the tanks lacked sufficient protection from shock and that Concorde's makers had been aware of the problem since 1979. Former Concorde officials Henri Perrier, 79, and Jacques Herubel, 73, are accused of knowing about problems with the jets and failing to detect and fix them. Claude Frantzen, 71, director of technical

  • SLIDESHOW PICTURES Us Airways (flight 1549) plane crashes into Hudson River in New York US Airways Flight 1549 took off grom Laguardia airport at 3:26 p.m. It was less than a minute later when the pilot reported a "double bird strike" and said he needed to return to LaGuardia Returning to LaGuardia, he quickly realized, was out. So was nearby Teterboro Airport, where he had never flown before, and which would require him to take the jet over densely populated northern New Jersey. The co-pilot kept trying to restart the engines, while checking off emergency landing procedures on a three-page list that the crew normally begins at 35,000 feet. Capt.Sullenberger guided the gliding jet over the George Washington Bridge and looked for a place to land. With both engines out, a cool-headed pilot maneuvered his crowded jetliner over New York City and ditched it in the frigid Hudson River saved the all 155 people on board. tags hudson river emergency water landing us coast guard camera pictures new york plane crash us airways emergency landing lands into hudson river miracle on the hudson river na rzece hudson rzeka hudson londowanie na wodzie captain sullenberger crash crashes in new york in hudson river nypd msnbc.com fbi ntsb investigation us daily breaking news newyork times chicago tribune actual crash images category entertainment tags pilot last words plane crash seconds from air disaster accident airlines death ATC voice recording katastrofy lotnicze wypadki samolot united delta aa japan singapore alaska aeromexico us airways korean france egypt swissair china twa valujet el al avianca surinam south african lot traffic control tapes ntsb investigations tribute to flight memory airplane linie die wypadek czarna skrzynka memorial science graphic images pictures boeing airbus md 82 pilots flight crew sky skyway above the clouds katastrofa american onboard concorde cleared for take off flame out breathing light cockpit emergency landing tenerife dc10 dc 10 dc-10 tribute to flight 587 93 352 006 4590 261 990 1420 111 6

  • Box columns with no inside is what the main structural support at wtc7 consisted of. Something like 12 inches by 36. A heavy tank has less steel protecting it. Yet, as you can see, the solid structural steel columns of the solomon building were sliced like butter in the controlled demolition of wtc7. At the WTC site, Asteneh-Asl has examined the wreckage, looking for clues in the heaps of burned, bent metal to the collapse of the twin 110-story towers. The goal is to determine where failure occurred and how to improve the structural integrity of new buildings so they can better withstand fires, explosions, earthquakes, and other hazards, according to the NSF. Asteneh-Asl's examination of the debris found that steel flanges, once an inch thick, became paper-thin after the disaster. He reportedly found pieces of structural steel with gouge marks identifying where a Boeing 767 struck, including one segment that appears to have been sliced by an airplane wing, and another by the planes nose. Asteneh-Asl is also part of a team assembled by the American Society of Civil Engineers to investigate the trade center site and reconstruct the failure of the buildings. Joe Craine has often spoke of the massive solid steel box columns inculded in the construction of the Salomon Bros building. Here the reliable professor hassan asteneh-asl shows us one. How many BTU would it take to raise that massive hunk of steel 1 degree? Yet, it was cut! Listen as peter jennings tells us what really was going on.
