Sarah Palin's ties to extremist groups, militia, terrorists, and other paranoid, racist nutjobs
On August 29, 2008, John McCain told Americans that Palin is tenacious, tough, and could handle the job of Vice President just fine. He praised her "grit", "integrity", and "good sense". He said that: "She is exactly who this country needs to help us fight the same old Washington politics of me first and country second," Indeed, "Country First" has become the official McCain campaign slogan. "USA! USA! USA!" is shouted by the frenzied, hate-filled, nationalistic crowds that gather to hear McCain and Palin speak. What they don't know about Palin is that her political career in Alaska was shaped by the ideology and support of fringe, anti-government, militia-organizing secessionists. Here at dailyKos, we have but scratched the surface of Palin's connection to the Alaska Independence Party (AIP). The big story that we suspected was there has finally been uncovered by Dave Neiwert and Max Blumenthal, who recently traveled to Wasilla, Alaska. Neiwert laid the background for their AIP story in a September 22, 2008 article. Of note: This morning I interviewed John Stein, the former Wasilla mayor who was defeated by Palin in 1996 by using "a quiet campaign by some Palin supporters raising emotional issues like abortion and gun control, which had no apparent tie to municipal politics" -- and as Phil Munger notes, a whisper campaign that Stein was secretly Jewish (Stein is a Lutheran). The connection revolves mostly around three men known to have far-right leanings in the community: a builder named Steven Stoll, a computer repairman named Mark Chryson, and a third man named Mike Christ. All three subscribed to a bellicose, "Patriot" movement brand of politics -- far-right libertarianism with a John Birch streak. According to Stein, Steven Stoll -- whose local nickname, according to Phil Munger, is "Black Helicopter Steve" -- was involved in militia organizing in Wasilla the 1990s, and subscribed to most of the movement's paranoid conspiracy theories: "The rumor was that he had wrapped his guns in plastic and buried them i

Our Trashing of Poor Whites, and Their Trashing of Others The sights & thoughts of Jacob Holdt (Danish traveller to America) -------------- Vagabonds and blacks have a special relationship to poor whites, who for the rest of society barely exist. With their guns hanging inside pick-up trucks as symbols of power, they are the ones who shoot at hitch-hikers late Friday nights, throw beer bottles at you other nights and try to run you over at all hours. While the better-off whites create the climate it is the poor who exercise much of the direct physical oppression of black people, who in turn contemptuously call them "poor white trash". It was they who were given the brutal and sadistic roles of slave overseers and catchers. Like poor whites in today's America, the overseers sensed that they were held in contempt by plantation society and took out their insecurities and hostilities on the blacks in relentless cruelty. It was to them that demagogic Jim Crow politicians addressed themselves, but when blacks got voting rights and swung the political pendulum towards more liberal politicians, the poor whites had much of their policing role reduced. But they still cling to the overseer role and I sometimes heard them talking about "shooting up nigger town". Like the blacks, they suffer from self-hatred and therefore react violently against their surroundings by for instance throwing trash all over. They too have their intelligence impaired by malnutrition and neglect, and can be even more fearful than blacks. When I approach their shacks they usually are frightened and run inside and lock the doors. When I go hunting with them and see their cruelty to the animals, I realize that the source of their violence and abusive behavior is their own early oppression - beaten as helpless children into their insensitive and repressive social role. Unique pistol. The Alien Blaster is one of the most powerful weapons in the game since a critical hit is guaranteed. You will more than often be able to take down any foe you encounter with one well-aimed shot to the head. The Alien Blaster uses Alien Power Cells, a unique ammo that is extremely hard to find. The Alien Blaster can be obtained next to the body of a dead alien lying a few feet away from his crashed spaceship. The Alien Crash Site is found due north of MDPL-13 Power Station and northwest of the Greener Pastures Disposal Site. There are only 120 Alien Power Cells found at the crash site. The Alien Blaster can be given to Defender Casdin, in front of Fort Independence in exchange for a large amount of ammunition or aid items (it's worth 484 5.56mm or 20 stimpacks/radaway/frag grenades). The only ways to repair the Alien Blaster aside from the usual vendors, are by using the Firelance as spare parts or alternatively, giving it to Defender Casdin, and stealing it back (or killing him and retrieving it from his corpse). It will be at 100% condition. It should be noted that pickpocketing Casdin is difficult, so you shouldn't give him the Alien Blaster unless you're prepared to pickpocket him unsuccessfully twenty or so times before you get your gun back (or whatever other item he'll accept that you want repaired to 100%). Another way to steal it back is to use a Stealth Boy (I would have a spare just in case the escape takes too long). Even if you get caught the most you'll get is a "Caution" alert (note: as long as you remain in sneak mode and are not making too much noise). He will be looking for you but if you can get out of his range (i.e., the red indicator on your radar disappears and you get the "Hidden" status) you can fast travel to a safe location. After 3 to 4 game days Casdin resets and becomes friendly again. It's also worth noting that this weapon, though very powerful, will quickly erode and be rendered useless, so stick to aimed headshots. This weapon also has the effect of disintegrating
