Broken windows, cash taken from a register, a hole punched through a door. That's what volunteers found Monday morning at a substance abuse recovery center in downtown Farmington, called "The Well". The Well's manager says between the stolen cash and the damage, they lost about $1800. But that's not the only reason the break-in is frustrating for the staff. "It was quite a blow,” said the center’s manager, Guy Shephard. “We always manage to pay our bills but never have a lot of surplus. When something like this happens, it's very frustrating because it's a pretty safe bet that the people who did this are the same people that we're trying to help and provide a safe haven to." Volunteers say the vandals also left food wrappers and half-eaten food throughout the building. [www.clipsyndicate.com | KOB Albuquerque]
In the lost and found section of Craigslist you typically see people hunting for a lost pet. But now people are hunting for their stolen car or truck. The idea is that someone will read the post and spot the vehicle. That's what one Craigslist poster is hoping. Someone just swiped her 1992 red Honda Accord. Another poster lost their car on Christmas day in downtown Albuquerque. Someone stole her Honda Accord from outside of her house. Police say asking for help from the public here isn't a bad idea. But they don't want people trying to solve the crime by themselves. If you are posting and get a tip from someone about where your car is located...call police with the information and let them follow up. [www.clipsyndicate.com | KOB Albuquerque]

Time to end our annual look at the Year in Review with Jim Olson. Tonight, he wraps up his report with the top stories in the news during November and December. Tragedy struck the state in early November when three students from Dickinson State University were first reported missing and then found dead - their vehicle in a pond on ranchland near Dickinson. The three young women had apparently been star gazing and accidentally plunged into the water while driving across the unmarked land. North Dakota Congressman Earl Pomeroy voted in favor of a one trillion dollar health care overhaul bill in early November, sparking a round of advertising across the state from opponents of the bill, and later from supporters of the congressman's vote. By the time North Dakota Senators Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan voted for the senate's version of the bill, millions of dollars had been spent on advertising in the state, trying to influence their votes. A district judge ruled in December that an effort to limit the Board of Higher Education's options for the future of the Fighting Sioux nickname and logo was improper. The judge said the decision on the controversial issue rested with the board - and it's possible that group will make a decision early in 2010. The man who guided the North Dakota State Fair for four years, including to a record attendance in 2009, was fired in mid-December. Bob Wagoner said he was shocked at the vote by the Fair Board, although minutes from meetings more than a year earlier showed there had been an effort to seek his resignation, and personnel file records showed consistently unfavorable reviews by board members. Fair Board members said Wagoner was too focused on major entertainment at the expense of more traditional ag-related activities at the Fair. Longtime Fair worker Renae Korslein took over as interim manager. About 40 people lost their jobs in Ray when Medical Arts Press, a call center in operation for more than a decade there, was closed. Song: Who You Are Artist: Telegram Album: We Look And See Available for purchase, on BandCamp http://telegram.bandcamp.com Lyrics: Planet Emily, nothing for it, IâÂÂm in orbit. Gravity! Been out here for years, space gets lonely, when youâÂÂre only on your own. Tired of the reasons not to try, IâÂÂve been wondering all my life. I found a place beyond the stars, got away from where they are. Think IâÂÂll stay with Emily. I keep an open mind, searching for a perfect summer afternoon. Touching down, my home is high above me, say you love me one more time...one more time. Finding that thereâÂÂs more than IâÂÂve seen. Wide eyed; it seems better than my dreams. I see trees, and flowers grow, bluebird sings and I donâÂÂt know what it means, Emily. All of a sudden worlds starts spinning, fall on my hands the monsters come at night. I'm terrified. Now I can feel my heart rate speeding. Never thought I'd regret this. It's a trap, a lie. I'm paralyzed. Making me feel like I've got nothing better than this. Is it too late to hide? Run! ...all messed up with nowhere to go... A bit lost in space but IâÂÂm okay. "copyright 2010 Northern Records LLC"

Documentary preview: "Bartitsu - the Lost Martial Art of Sherlock Holmes"
A preview trailer for the upcoming documentary exploring the cultural history, rediscovery and modern revival of E.W. Barton-Wright's "New Art of Self Defence". Founded in London in 1899, Bartitsu was an early example of a mixed martial art, combining boxing, jiujitsu, savate and self defence with a walking stick. After a brief heyday, it was all but forgotten throughout the 20th century except for a single cryptic reference in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes story, "the Adventure of the Empty House". Shot on location in Italy, Switzerland, England and the USA, "Bartitsu: the Lost Martial Art of Sherlock Holmes" is presented by Tony Wolf and features interviews with Dr. Emelyne Godfrey, Harry Cook, Graham Noble, Will Thomas, Mark Donnelly and Neal Stephenson. Il documentario analizza la storia passata, la riscoperta, e la recente rinascita della New Art of Self Defence di E.W. Barton Wright. LeBron James 26pts vs Kobe Bryant 35pts 12/25/09 NBA *lakers vs cavaliers *Christmas Day
Date: December 25, 2009. Boxscore: http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=291225013 After the Cleveland Cavaliers made the defending NBA champions look ordinary, the Los Angeles Lakers' fans threw up their foam hands in frustration. Mo Williams scored 28 points, LeBron James added 26 and the Cavaliers beat Los Angeles 102-87 Friday in a game that ended with angry Lakers fans throwing dozens of giveaway foam hands onto the court. Shaquille O'Neal had 11 points in his latest Los Angeles return with the Cavaliers, who dominated the Lakers with sharp shooting and physical defense, prompting several technical fouls and retaliation hits in a one-sided matchup of title contenders. The Lakers' crowd lost its holiday spirit with 4:04 left when Lamar Odom's ejection and another T on the Lakers' infuriated bench prompted many fans to throw their pregame presents onto the court. After another foul with 3:45 left, several more foam hands were thrown along with a full water bottle, which skittered between players without hitting anyone. Kobe Bryant scored 35 points for the Lakers, who had won 16 of 17 before Cleveland's decisive victory behind Williams, James and the Cavs' impressive interior play, which negated the Lakers' usual advantages down low. After Odom got his second technical foul in an altercation with Williams, the Lakers' bench drew a T -- apparently on purpose -- for delay of game by failing to produce a substitute in a timely manner. When referee Dan Crawford whistled that T, the Staples Center crowd let its hands fly. The foam hands weren't the usual No. 1 finger normally found at sports events, but a representation of two puppet hands making the "LA" sign in a connection to Nike's advertising campaign featuring puppets of James and Bryant. But with Williams leading the way in his third straight impressive road game, the Cavs forced Bryant and the Lakers into their least impressive performance in six weeks. The loss dropped the Lakers (23-5) back into a tie with Boston atop the overall NBA standings.

Muslim Cleric Challenges Darwin: We Are Descendants of Human Beings, Jews Brothers of Apes and Pigs
December 6, 2009 on Al-Aqsa TV - Transcript: Abd Al-Majid Al-Zindani: Against the backdrop of this campaign, Darwin's evolutionists began to rely on illusions, which they present as evidence. They said: "Look! Your body has vestigial organs that you inherited from your ancestors, the apes." God help us! Our ancestors were not apes. Their ancestors may have been apes, but ours were human beings. [...] [The Darwinists] say: "Look at this creature. We found it in a lower stratum, and we found this more developed [creature] in a higher stratum." Okay, let's say people come after us, and find archeological remains of a handcart. Then they find bicycle in the stratum above it. Then, in the stratum above that, they find a motorbike, and in the stratum above that, they find a car. "Aha! We have discovered how the car developed and where it came from. The car used to be a handcart. Then there were natural developments and bla bla... and it turned into a bicycle, and there were other conditions, and it turned into a motorbike and from a motorbike, it turned into a car. Look how it developed." Can anybody accept such logic? If there was really such a sequence, it proves that this creature came after that one, but not that it developed from it. There is a difference between the two. [...] We must not rule out the possibility that Darwin had hidden psychological feelings. Darwin was reviled just like the Jews, who are told: "You are the brothers of apes and pigs." Allah transformed the Israelites who rebelled against him into apes and pigs, and it has become a curse used against them. Perhaps Darwin was upset and wanted to say to people: "You are all apes and pigs. It's not just us." Therefore, we can see that this theory is not based on sound foundations, and does not have sufficient proof. So today, it is considered to be a theory which used to be prevalent, but which lost many of its supporters, who renounced it, and which has become like a past legend. [...] What remains for us to say is that the principle in which they
"Up In The Air" is a timely new movie about unemployment, but it's also the title of a song written by a man who lost his job and found his future. Jim Axelrod reports.

Misa Maruyama, Eyewitness News 4; Taryn Bianchin, KOB.com The family of Lawrence Vargas, who was shot to death last year, reached out to the Trujillo family, whose baby was murdered earlier this month. This morning at 11, the Vargas’s offered their strength and support to the Trujillo’s while presenting the child’s mother with a one thousand dollar check. The Vargas’s lost their 23-year-old son during a July 2008 shooting at an Albuquerque parking garage. Ashley Trujillo is the mother of baby Trinity Rains, who was shot to death three weeks ago. Police say the baby's father killed Trinity because he didn't want to see Trujillo move on with another man. Although the recent weeks have been horrendous, through her faith Trujillo says she's found forgiveness. “We can not judge people because we make mistakes too, even though some are greater, some fight bigger demons,” Trujillo said. She hopes her story will help other women. “No one deserves to stay in the dark too long. It's time that each of us reaches a hand to someone in the dark and pulls them out before it's too late.” Trujillo says she isn't allowed to speak to Rains while he's behind bars but wouldn't do it, even if she could. Christopher Rains is scheduled to make another court appearance Monday morning. [www.clipsyndicate.com | KOB Albuquerque]

Cheung Bo-Man used to be an elite in the police force. He was an idol among the younger police cadets for being an ace shooter, highly observant and a calm mind. However, after the murder of his wife by triads, he lost the motivation to live and sunk into depression. His relationship with his daughter also deteriorated. During this time, he encountered the greatest challenge of his life. He is sent to investigate a series of kidnappings and murders of triad leaders by the newly posted Chief Superintendent of Police, Ku Kwok Kiong. The perpetrators of the crimes were higher organized, professional, cruel and violent. After investigation, he found that the leader of the perpetrators was an ex-police officer (Michael Miu) and all his underlings were ex-SDU members. Therefore, they were familiar with police procedures and techniques which enabled them to predict the police's moves. He soon found that Cheung Bo-Man is after his trails and a life-death battle of courage and wits unfolds.[24fps]
