The Archaeology in Androscoggin Valley of Maine talk was given by Bruce Bourque, Chief Archaeologist of the Maine State Museum. This talk was record live at the meeting of the Androscoggin Historical Society held on 26 Oct 1999. Bates College states: "The Maine press paid particular attention to the work of an anthropologist at Bates this year. Bruce Bourque, chief archeologist and curator of ethnology at the Maine State Museum and a lecturer at Bates, had a hand in two publications addressing topics near and dear to Mainers. Bourque was one of 19 contributors to a much-publicized analysis, in a July issue of Science magazine, of the decline of coastal fisheries. Bourque also made news as principal author of Twelve Thousand Years: American Indians in Maine (University of Nebraska Press), the first authoritative history of Maine’s native people, published in September."

Mr Libby talked on Poland Spring at the Androscogggin Historical 2009-11-17. Libby discussed the history, formation and development of the Poland Spring resort and water company. His talk also include the Ricker family, which founded and formed Poland Spring, golf and other recreational activities at Poland; the history and goals of the Preservation Society, and the life of its long-serving board president, George A. Ricker Jr., who died last month. Ricker was a memberof the last generation of the founding family to live on the propert. He has served as adjunct faculty, teaching history courses at Central Maine Community College and assisting with a political science course at the University of Maine. He recently co-authored, with the Poland Spring Preservation Society, the book Poland Spring which was published by Arcadia Publishing through its popular Images of America series.
A Night on the Town was a talk given by Mr. Keith W. Brann on 22 April 2008 at the monthly meeting of the Androscoggin Historical Society. Mr. Brann is a member of the Androscoggin Historical Society, His talk was about what Lewiston and Auburn, Maine people did before there was TV. This talks covers many subject from things like kids games, go to meeting, plays, dancing to public hangings and the KKK. Not everything was good in the "good old days" and somethings we might not want to re-live. Mr. Brann covers many subjects and has made a good outline of what could be an interesting book some day.

Libby is a native of Portland and a graduate of the Portland Public Schools. He graduated from the University of Maine in Portland with a degree in Political Science and earned a law degree from Duke University He was a member of the first Board of Directors of Legal Services for the Elderly. He served nine years as a board member of the Maine Historical Society and is currently a board member of the Chinese and American Friendship Association of Maine.

Martha Elkin will discuss and demonstrate the ancient art of shearing, carding and spinning wool at a meeting of the Androscoggin Historical Society on Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend without charge.<p> She will show samples of wool and yarn that has been dyed with plants from her farm in Sumner.<p> Martha, a native and former resident of Danville, was a nursing educator for more than 20 years <p> and is the author of a nursing textbook. She retired from teaching to farming and with her partner, <p> Mary Ann Haxton, owns A Wrinkle in Thyme Farm, where they have 28 sheep, six Angora goats, 32 <p> laying hens, and make maple syrup. The farm and the farm store are open the third weekend of the <p> month and other times by appointment or chance.
