  • Up first it's New Avengers #42. The guys like the story about Spiderwoman's past, and Alex makes a funny reference to Metalocalypse. Next it's Justice League of America #22. The guys don't really like the Red Tornado story line, and think the issue is a little akward for a flagship DC title. Then it's Mighty Avengers #15. The guys love it and think you should pick it up. During the Speed Round we look at Zorro #4, Guardians of The Galaxy #2, Wolf #1, and Black Belt Hamsters #4. Finishing up, Morg writes in: "Are there any experiences or influences that have shaped your comic book tastes as adults?" Be sure to tune in and see what the guys' answers are! Be sure to watch The Stack three times a week, and send your comments and questions to tips@pulpsecret.com!

  • Alex get's right to the reviews with a look at Avengers/Invaders #2. Pete thinks this title is similar to Secret Invasion and Alex and Justin have some criticisms about the storyline. Next up it's the continuation of Batman RIP in Batman #677. The guys think that this issue has improved greatly over the first Batman RIP issue. Next up it's Invincible Iron Man #2. Everybody loves this issue and says to pick it up. During the Speed Round it's The Sword #8, Hawksmoor #3, Blue Beetle #27, Young Avengers Presents #5, and Batman: Gotham After Midnight. Finishing off, Steven Tan writes in asking what X-Men titles new readers should check out. Pete says to pick up Astonishing X-Men. Justin recommends looking at the Age of Apocalypse. Alex loves X-Men First Class as a new-reader oriented comic. Be sure to watch The Stack three times a week and send your comments and questions to tips@pulpsecret.com!

  • This is a fan tribute to the great film that is "Ip Man". Yip Man was the first martial arts master to teach the Chinese martial art of Wing Chun openly. He had several students who later became martial arts teachers in their own right, including Bruce Lee. The video is mainly divided into 3 Acts. Act I showcases Yip Man as a humble Wing Chun exponent. Recognized by the people in Fo Shan for his skill and humility, he started to teach the art of Wing Chun which, we know is now one of the most mainstream forms of Chinese martial arts. I touched on his philosophy and his views of Wing Chun and martial arts. Act II portrays him as an Avenger. His friend Lin was killed by the Japanese for fighting in a 'friendly' spar in a dojo. Yip Man rains his fists upon his enemies in a flurry of pain and fury. ACT III defines Yip Man as a National Hero who ignited the unity and nationalism in the Chinese by beating a Japanese general in public. I want to showcase as epic as a fight as possible. Yip Man not only fights physically with General Miura, but in ideology as well. A battle on 2 fronts. I sweated tears and blood for this one. This is the first serious non-anime video I've attempted. Well it ended up being too serious but I wanted to make it work. *Please comment on the video. * All useful feedback will help me in my next video and will be greatly appreciated.

  • SUBSCRIBE TO EXCELLENT WORLD WAR II VIDEOS UPDATED WEEKLY Just after midnight on 4 June, Admiral Nimitz, based on patrol plane reports, advised Task Forces 16 and 17 of the course and speed of the Japanese "main body," also noting their distance of 574 miles from Midway. Shortly after dawn, a patrol plane spotted two Japanese carriers and their escorts, reporting "Many planes heading Midway from 320 degrees distant 150 miles!" The first attack on 4 June, however, took place when the four night-flying PBYs attacked the Japanese transports northwest of Midway with one PBY torpedoing fleet tanker Akebono Maru. Later that morning, at roughly 0630, Aichi D3A ("Val") carrier bombers and Nakajima B5N ("Kate") torpedo planes, supported by numerous fighters ("Zekes"), bombed Midway Island installations. Although defending U.S. Marine Corps Brewster F2A ("Buffalo") and Grumman F4F ("Wildcat") fighters suffered disastrous losses, losing 17 of 26 aloft, the Japanese only inflicted slight damage to the facilities on Midway. Motor Torpedo Boat PT-25 was also damaged by strafing in Midway lagoon. Over the next two hours, Japanese "Zekes" on Combat Air Patrol (CAP) and antiaircraft fire from the Japanese fleet annihilated the repeated attacks by the American aircraft from Marine Corps Douglas SBD ("Dauntless") and Vought SB2U ("Vindicator") scout bombers from VMSB-241, Navy Grumman TBF ("Avenger") torpedo bombers from VT-8 detachment, and U. S. Army Air Force torpedo-carrying Martin B-26 ("Marauder") bombers sent out to attack the Japanese carriers. Army Air Force "Flying Fortresses" likewise bombed the Japanese carrier force without success, although without losses to themselves. Between 0930 and 1030, Douglas TBD ("Devastator") torpedo bombers from VT 3, VT-6, and VT-8 on the three American carriers attacked the Japanese carriers. Although nearly wiped out by the defending Japanese fighters and antiaircraft fire, they drew off enemy fighters, leaving the skies open for dive bombers from Enterprise and Yorktown. VB-6 and VS-6

  • shazap.com This was a great one shot. Right off the bat, on the first page the art is so creepy that the character of the joker really jumps out at you and gives you the scare that everyone else in the DCU gets when you see him. This story keeps you just as on edge as the captive studio audience and makes an interesting commentary on the reality TV in general. The next issue of this series is set to feature the Penguin, which I’m not as excited about but the quality of this book definitely gives me reason to check out the next one.

  • shazap.com This issue runs parallel with the first issue of secret invasion and explains what happened when Sue Storm blew up the Baxter Building. It starts off with a prologue that explains how the invisible woman was captured by a skrull posing as her husband. As this is going on the “he loves you” attack we witnessed in secret invasion #1 is being carried out by another skrull. It’s really quite geneouse knowing that it would attract too much attention and come with too much risk to try and kill the fantastic four directly they neutralized the members as well as their technology (possibly their greatest weapon) by transporting the whole damn thing to the n-zone. The real twist comes as Johnny figures out that hhis sister is an imposter and she reveals herself to be Johnny’s old skrully flame, forgive me I couldn’t resist, Lyja. Marvel is doing a really good job of showing that backstory of the invasion as it relates to current events and this looks to be a great mini series. For the next ...

  • One of the things that DC does that is over extend its stories a bit too much. You can have intricate story lines but DC sends them from so many angles that they take forever to develop. I always get so excited for the big DC events, I save it for last, I go get set up in my room and then nothing really happens. I know there is a great story to come, but I hate how much DC makes you wait. I loved the stuff with Libra, I’m curious about the super villain protest march, and intrigued by the darkseid stuff. The monitor story line is a little predictable, and I like the concept of bringing the first677 boy from the beginning of the world to the end of the world but I don’t think that the teleportation was drawn well. I can’t wait to see what comes with the flash next month. So we’ll have to wait a bit for the action but I’m sure it will be worth it.

  • So the Mighty Avengers book has taken on the duty of showing us how each of the avengers was replaced by a skrull. We’ve seen Sue Richard’s story, Jessica Drew’s, and now they show are showing us how Elektra was killed. This is the best one that I’ve seen yet. Electra put up an amazing fight. She took three super powered Skrulls down before they could take her out and there are some great action sequences. I didn’t think the art was a very fitting tribute to send Electra off for her second and possibly final time. The art made her look like an old woman instead of the sexy, deadly warrior she is. The artist also doesn’t do a great job of catching the characteristics of the characters. I mean if it wasn’t for the costumes you wouldn’t be able to tell who they were. Next issue is Hank Pym. I’m starting to get a little impatient with this story. I love the story but I would like it to start moving again.
