Art Cologne, in partnership with the Federal Association of German Galleries and Editions (BVDG), has been promoting selected young artists since 1980, providing them with a springboard to the international art market. Free of charge, artists selected for New Positions are provided with an exhibition space of 25 square metres adjacent to the stand of the gallery representing them. From these presentations, an international jury nominates the best artist for the Audi Art Award for New Positions, which comprises a one-artist show in the Cologne Artothek with a published catalogue, worth a total of â¬10,000. This yearâs laureate is Julia Horstmann with her presentation at the booth of Christian Nagel Gallery.

At the end of a lonely cemetery road in a small Texas town, Norm Lanier toils to bring the dead back to life. He does not use a witch’s brew, lightning, or voodoo magic; although it is rather easy to apply these things metaphorically to his work. Take one photograph of a dead ancestor, add some computer wizardry, swirl it around, toss in a pinch of special laminate and viola! The result is a Haunted Portrait. Norm has assembled an impressive Rouges Gallery of horror, with images ranging from the curious to the darkly sublime. While some are suitable for children, others have the power to make your blood run cold. Each gruesome character comes complete with a chilling tale to describe their decline into evil; an extra dimension that may just keep you up at night. The cult of the Sleeping God is on the rise. Mr. Moon is dealing with the current emergency using methods imitated by the Night Scholars (methods that he does not fully understand). When a Dreamer on a South London housing estate performs the ritual sacrifice of her two young children, Mr. Moon closes down the subsequent police investigation and has the Dreamer quickly interned at a secret location. Moon and his silent assistants deliver a grotesque sculpture found at the scene of the crime to Kenneth Reece Warren, a man who already knows too much. Warren was a psychiatrist and a former Night Scholar who now owns The Outsider Art Gallery in Hoxton. Moon wants to discover more about the occult Sigil that can be used to restrict the influence of the Sleeping God on the Dreamers. He uses an experimental truth drug on Warren and proceeds to interrogate him about his experiences during the Falklands war and his knowledge of the Sigil. Este mediometraje fue un proyecto para television tipo "Capadoquia" donde se maneja el formato de cine para TV, inspirado en "Galeria Nocturna" (Night Gallery) y "Dimension Desconocida" (The twilight zone) la idea era explorar los cuentos y leyendas de la epoca de la conquista en Mexico que son magicas y fantasticas, desgraciadamente en aquel tiempo (1991) era muy adelantado para el mercado latino y las cadenas de television se negaron a comprarlo por el costo tan alto de filmacion por el estandar de calidad que requería. El director Luis de Velasco le mostro la musica que realizé en este mediometraje a Ray Manzarek del grupo THE DOORS y gracias a eso fue que Ray decidio aceptar mi invitacion a tocar en mi disco pues quedó muy sorprendído. Pepe Sulaiman el productor tambien es un artista plastico que realíza hermosos grabados Mexicanos y es promotor de Silvio Rodriguez en Mexico.
