  • Our animal enrichment program is always looking for new and safe ways to keep our cats entertained. Senior keeper Barbara came up with an idea of wrapping cow tails up in paper so that the tigers had to work for their treats. Watch as the tigers get cow tails for the first time. This pod cast also includes some tiger facts as well. With around 5,000 of these animal left in the wild, we need to take action right now for their survival. Human over population and illegal trade in their body parts have led them to the brink of extinction. We simply need to support programs that save their habitat around the globe. For more info on how you can save these beautiful animals log on to: www.bigcatrescue.org

  • I often wish people could see all the crazy little things our cats do in between tour times out here. Last Monday in between the 9am and 3pm tours, I saw our tiger go after a turtle, our fishing cat actually fish and get one of his pet fish, and our small, rare and seldom seen Geoffroy (a.k.a. Geoffrey’) cat come out for enrichment. And there still is more to see. So take a look at this glimpse of what happens "In Between Tours." For more info about felines: www.bigcatrescue.org

  • Come with us as we update you on the big cats that appeared in three of our more popular pod casts this year. At Big Cat Rescue we pride ourselves that we are doing the best we can in this animal industry to have strong ethics. We have grown into a world-class non-breeding sanctuary and we don’t give in to the theory that babies bring in money, or that you have to rotate animals or get rid of surplus. We have no roller coasters, no petting zoos or photo booths with the cats, no taking our animals off property, and other things that other places think they need to attract money from visitors. We offer only guided tours at selected times in order to educate people on the cats situations both in captivity and in the wild. We are proud that we grow with your support year after year and we do our best to put our animals’ needs and welfare first and hope to show others that this is the way it can and should be done. Thanks for a great year! www.bigcatrescue.org

  • Big Cat Rescue is home to more than 100 big cats that have been abused and abandoned. In 2008 BCR rescued Joseph's pride, two lions and two tigers. They had been used as props in photos and their claws and canines were removed. When the facility that abused them abandoned the cats BCR stepped in and rescued the pride.

  • H.R. 669: Nonnative Wildlife Invasion Prevention Act. To prevent the introduction and establishment of nonnative wildlife species that negatively impact the economy, environment, or other animal species' or human health, and for other purposes. This will NOT affect hamsters, guinea pigs, etc. so don't drink the KoolAid the animal dealers are trying to sell you. The bill is to allow the US Fish & Wildlife Svc come up with a list of truly dangerous invasive animals that won't be allowed as pets. The parakeet police are not going to come take your pets. It is a common sense bill for people with common sense. Find out the truth from someone other than a breeder, dealer or animal exploiter. Millions of wild animals, including reptiles, large felines, nonhuman primates, and others, are kept in private possession in the U.S. The trade in exotic animals is a multi-billion-dollar-a-year industry. HR669 will help prevent these "pets" that often are just released into the wild from destroying our native animals ...
