Countdown with Keith Olbermann - Wednesday March 28 & Thursday March 29 2007
Wednesday: The President tries to convince gullible American sheep that although Congress has passed a spending bill to fund the troops, if he (Bush) vetoes it somehow they will be the one cutting off funding. The President cites two anonymous bloggers that things are going swell in Iraq. (Two Iraq dentists who got to make a trip to the White House). John McCain says things are going swell too..uh..huh. Nobody seems ready to vouch for Gonzo. Sanjaya's pony hawk hair. Another Keithy awards segment. Thursday: Gonzo's former chief of staff directly contradicts him in testimony. The consequences of Bush vetoing troop funding is obvious to everyone but him. Karl Rove raps while the administration burns. Sanjaya's hair lives to see another day. The Keithy animal awards
You can compare the speech to what happened in the years that followed. A lot of the things he tried to do he was able to, but there were many disappointments. He did balance the budget, the first president to do so which may have been his biggest achievement. Of course, health care in this country has not improved and only has gotten worse. But you can't blame that failure entirely on the Clinton's as the Congress sold out to the millions of dollars of the Health Care Industry. I think what Clinton was most naive about was this idea that he could bring the country together. Little did he know at the time that from the time he was elected, the Republicans would institute their political version of the scorched earth policy. I have another video I will upload eventually from election night that shows an interview with Bob Dole on election night that was a harboring of what was to come from the Republicans.
More on Gonzales gate with breaking news that Karl Rove is fully implicated in this mess. Did you think otherwise? At least five will be facing subpoenas. Tony Snow has trouble with answering the simple question about the firings being political. Wayne Slater on Turdblossom's involvement. Also, Keith does a good job here of taking a closer look at the emails involved, and the lies they were trying to cover. Hilary's plan Iraq plan includes leaving troops there. A segment on how cameras in police cars have shown that there are good cops and bad cops. And a report on American Idol's Sanjaya Malakar who is being championed not only by Vote for the Worst but by Howard Stern also. BONUS! The opening segment of Scarborough Country dealing with the Attorney General Scandal.
Thursday's edition of Countdown with Keith Olbermann. Enjoy!
Keith does stories on how we are losing Afghanistan, the clueless Condoleeza Rice, the racism of the right wing, the homophobia of pro-athletes. And Keith makes a major announcement that has to do with four more years.
Keith is still gone, but I know he is going to co-host the pre and post debate shows on Thursday. There will certainly be no countdown that day. But again Alison is here to fill in ably. Check out her blouse. I know it won't be the same on here but that color she is wearing literally popped out of my big screen today. A bit much for a news person but who cares. Just watch the beginning for a rundown of stories but John Mellencamp is a guest.
Starting off we have the House passing a bill partially funding the war up until the end of July, at which time Bush is suppose to provide a progress report. Don't look for the Senate to pass it and if they do Bush will veto it. The visit by the Republicans to the White House may have been nothing more than grandstanding. General Batiste is fired by CBS for appearing in a Vote Vets ad. A funny segment on Dueling Gonzaleses. Keith does a bit on Family Guy.
The New Iran War Plan. Yes, please make note of the fact that the country is Iran with an N and not Iraq with a q. Keith interviews Seymour Hersh. The Ultra Conservative right wing nut cases don't like another nut case known as Rudy Giuliani. It has something to do with the fact that he might be pro-choice. The nutty right wingers cry that they'll take their precious nutty votes to a third party candidate if Rudy gets nominated. After O'Reilly has threatened to go after anybody who reported about his racism, Keith shows you how to defend yourself if you get ambushed by Mr. Falafel's producers. Britney loses custody. All this and more on this edition of Countdown with Keith Olbermann.
Part Two of Three of the Democratic Debate that took place at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. I've seen several of these now and I know which candidates I would prefer to see get the nomination, although if necessary, I would vote for any of them before I would ever vote for one of those jokesters the Republicans have running.
The Senate passes a non binding resolution attached to a spending bill that calls for the withdrawal of U.S. troops in a year. Bush is guaranteed to veto it. Interviews with Pat Tillman's mom, and with Bill Maher. The second category of the Keithy awards.
Keith Olbermann's show from Wednesday Feb 21st includes more on Scooter Libby and what happens if he is found guilty or innocent. And more on the Britains leaving Iraq. How the Bushites inflated their record on Terrorist prosecutions. More on Britney and Judge Larry at the Anna Nicole Circus And much much more. Oh yeah? Oprah as a worse person in the world? You got it and she deserves it.
Better late than never in getting this up. This is Keith's show reported from Ground Zero on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack. Again, this edition of the show is another example of why Countdown should be the highest rated cable newscast in primetime. Highlights include Joe Lieberman as Worst Person. What a totally useless human being he has become. Keith Olbermann's end segment entitled No Truth, No Consequences is another must see.
Well what do you know! We made it through the week and I'm going to bed, comforted by the knowledge that I am now caught up on my Olbermann uploads for the week. Enjoy, and be sure to tell your friends about our really big show.
A good program for you tonight. We start off with poor Fredo Gonzales who testifies in front of the Senate. It seems on his way there he was hit on the head by a falling coconut and developed amnesia....about 74 times. This of course sets up a great classic Olbermann investigative segment on the Bush Administration equivalent of The Dog Ate My Homework. That alone makes this one of the better shows in a while. John Dean stops by later to talk about all of this. The fallout from NBC's and other networks decision to broadcast Virginia Tech Killer Cho Seung-hui's murderous manifesto. Keith shows the pros and cons. Oddball is back with flying pizza, as it Keith's Worst Person in the World. It seems among other things, Bill O'Reilly likes having people stalked who don't agree with him. Keith and Maria Malito bid a fond farewell to Sanjayjay and report on the Simon Cowell eyeroll. Fasten your seatbelts, it's time for Olbermann.
Keith is back but I don't feel like typing. I've been up all night doing videos. See the opening of the show for details.
What does Keith have for you today? The British are Leaving! The British are Leaving! Yep, the Brits are heading home from Iraq so when do our guys get to leave. We have more on the Veterans Hospital scandal, you know the one that doesn't concern Bush or the Repugnicans. We have closing arguements in the Libby case, with his lawyer going on a crying jag. More from Fox Noise Channel and their new laugh track. We have Judge Larry of the Anna Nicole case, trying to get his own show. We have more on Saint John McCain, flip-flopping around like a fish out of water. And to top it all off, Britney goes into rehab, but not hair rehab.
Tonight: Democrats and Republicans meet with Bush to try and move forward after his veto, but bush wants to go backwards. Did Monica Goodling break the law? The Police charged a crowd with tear gas and now warning. Imus suing CBS over dismissal. Dry Cleaner gets sued over a lost pair of pants for millions of dollars. And Idol jumps the shark.
Interviews with former President Bill Clinton and Senator Webb of Virginia. Senator Webb is the Senator who sponsored the bill that would require troops get at least a year of in between deployments to Iraq. The Repugnants of course, don't really care about the well being of the troops beyond phony photo-ops. Honestly, I do believe that if the Republicans could, they would find a way not to let them come home for a break at all. Then they could send them over there for 18 months, 24 months, or the sky's the limit. As long as the Repugs continue to goose step to Führer Bush. More on O'Reilly's racist tendencies and Rash Limpbottom said Service members who support U.S. withdrawal are "phony soldiers." I guess that would include the two soldiers who wrote an op-ed to the New York Times disagreeing that the Iraq War was accomplishing anything. To the repugnants, the fact that they paid the ultimate price mean little to them.
