The Virginia Tech Hokies won in Charlottesville for the first time since 1968 and handed the Wahoos their first home ACC loss in their two-year-old John Paul Jones arena.
A tough loss for the Hokies, but still some decent highlights of which to be proud.
The Hokies hosted the Colonials on Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Cassell Coliseum. Virginia Tech's defense dominated for the second consecutive game holding its opponent to less than 40 points and less than 33 percent shooting from the field. The Hokies won 68-36 and improved to 5-3.

The Hokies and Hoos faced off on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 with the ACC's Coastal Division on the line. Virginia Tech, 9-2 entering the game, was looking for its fourth straight win over instate rival Virginia, also 9-2. Behind a balanced offensive and great-when-they-needed-it defense, Virginia Tech beat the Hoos 33-21 in Charlottesville to claim its second Coastal Division title in three years. Al Groh, head coach at Virginia, is not 1-6 against the Hokies. Good thing the rivalry isn't of the same caliber as Ohio State-Michigan or he would probably be fired.
The Hokies got tough test at home from the rebuilding Tarheels. New UNC coach Butch Davis has a ton of true freshman that showed some promise this season and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if UNC ends up a bowl team in a couple of years.

VTHokieFans.com - This was a tough game to watch from a Hokies perspective, but I can appreciate the kids on the Boston College sideline, who did not give up. At the same time, the Tech players, particularly the defense, played their guts out. And the fans ... you can't say enough about the fans who braved cold temperatures and tropical downpours to see this game.
