  • I just had my first MRI, it was truly a new experience which I found fascinating. I was expecting it to be fast and quite, but I was wrong in both counts. It sounded like an old out-of-tuned church organ, only playing one note for a solid two minutes. Laying in one position for thirty minutes wasn't an easy feat for this hyperactive person. I haven't receive the results yet, but I will never forget the adventure. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is primarily used in medical imaging to visualize the structure and function of the body. It provides detailed images of the body in any plane. MR has much greater soft tissue contrast than computed tomography (CT) making it especially useful in neurological, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and oncological imaging. Unlike CT it uses no ionizing radiation, but uses a powerful magnetic field to align the magnetization of hydrogen atoms in the body. Radio waves are used to systematically alter the alignment of this magnetization, causing the hydrogen atoms to ...

  • The Internet address space available under the current protocol, IPv4, will run out real soon, 2011, and the only long term solution is to transition to IPv6 which has sufficient address capacity to give every grain of sand on the planet its own unique Internet address, or something like that. Only 16% of the total IPv4 address space remained unallocated in early 2008, this situation is critical for the future of the Internet economy because all new users connecting to the Internet, and all businesses that require IP addresses for their growth, will be affected by the change from the current status of ready availability of unallocated IPv4 addresses. • There is no exaggerating China's hunger for commodities. The country accounts for about a fifth of the world's population, yet it gobbles up more than half of the world's pork, half of its cement, a third of its steel and over a quarter of its aluminium. It is spending 35 times as much on imports of soya beans and crude oil as it did in 1999, and 23 times as much importing copper—indeed, China has swallowed over four-fifths of the increase in the world's copper supply since 2000. What is more, China is getting ever hungrier.

  • In Seoul there are 2 kinds of taxi cabs: some are grey or white and some are black. To hail a cab in Seoul stand on the side of the road with your arm out (facing the road) taxis are frequent and you will probably catch one quickly. However, just beware, black taxis are more expensive than the grey or white ones. You'll get the same ride just cheaper fare if you stick to grey and white taxis! One of the may keys to a successful taxi ride is to make sure it has a GPS system - you will get exactly where you need to be and get there fast.

  • Green and Clean Tech is a booming business with the corporate world working on ideas for the future. Kids are also concerned with the planet and putting hard effort to create some earth saving ideas too. Nicolai Rutkowski tests a few of his ideas. Global clean-energy markets are poised to quadruple in the next decade, growing from $55.4 bln in revenues in 2006 to more than $226.5 bln by 2016 for four benchmark technologies, according to Clean Edge. For the second year in a row, the global biofuels market was slightly larger than both solar and wind, reaching $20.5 bln in 2006 and projected to grow to more than $80 bln by 2016. Clean Edge projects solar photovoltaics (modules, system components, and installations) will grow from a $15.6 bln market in 2006 to $69.3 bln by 2016; wind power installations will expand from $17.9 bln in 2006 to $60.8 bln in 2016; and the markets for fuel cells and distributed hydrogen will grow from $1.4 bln in 2006 to $15.6 bln over the next decade.

  • Social networking sites act as a conduit to connect like-minded people and they are therefore still attracting members because it fuels the human need to feel part of a community. Social media networks are here to stay - though thinking they will stay as they are indefinitely is unrealistic and impractical. They will of course evolve. Social network sites are web-based services that allow individuals to (1) construct a public or semi-public profile within a bounded system, (2) articulate a list of other users with whom they share a connection, and (3) view and traverse their list of connections and those made by others within the system. The nature and nomenclature of these connections may vary from site to site. Distributed by Tubemogul.

  • On of the biggest issues with poor WiFi connection is conflicting WiFi channels. In Seoul, WiFi isn't as prevalent as it is in the State and that allows less conflict when it comes WiFi channels and signals. Most routers default to channel 1, 6, or 11, but if your neighbors are all on channel 6, then you might be seeing slow speed and lower range due to interference. Try one of the other channels (start with 1, 6, and 11, but other channel numbers are worth a shot, too), to see if you get a better signal with them. Remember that your neighbors may also replace their equipment at some point, so if you see a sudden drop in range or speed, try a new channel.
