why should you use our flv player, you already have your video content on another site and you prefer their player - we support the main video hosts out there so you can use their player and keep all your pre roll and post roll. In this day and age you should not be forced into what player you use.
we intend to roll out an iphone application and air application that will use your auth details to pull back each of your subdomains and we will have a frontend mashup of events - imagine like a video twitter for conferences and personal cvs that really stand out.
blinkx and reuters both have massive video archives and we wanted to crossover and blur the line between social video media and commercial media. we are supporting as many apis as we can.
right now we are building basic css themes that are fast loading but we are also outsourcing custom designs that work with our engine. we aim to decouple the design from the code but this was hard to start with because of the way we are grabbing the media from the crawler. it's something we plan on doing. we are able to customize and style a theme to suit most businesses.
for the destinations part of rezpondr we not only allow for using one of the best and oldest running video hosts blip.tv (the original videoblogger home) but your own ftp site and if you have neither our super fast and reliable amazon s3 hosting space. we work out the bandwidth and space based on the transcoding credits pricing.
we use shoutmix.com - a cool little shoutbox plugin chat but we are open to ideas for other good quality chat solutions that can be embedded - we like the admin features and the pricing structure for shoutmix is good
from the very start people were always talking about metrics, metrics, metrics - i can understand the reason why people want stats, something pretty to look at also to see what video content is doing better than others. we have built in ajax flash stats. We are not sure what to track yet, so we are only tracking uniques for each domain and each service rows media. We are open to suggestions of what else to track thou!
when your at an event or conference it can be very difficult to have some kind of structure as your racing from party to party and having management tools makes planning a lot easier - we have built a google calendar that integrates with the frontend tabs to show events coming up and will post them to an account of your choosing on twitter minutes before.
so one of the things that your subdomain can do is live switch out to different ustream accounts - we did cover it for yahoo live but they are shutting down, we will cover most of the live streaming sites by the end of the year, in conjunction with other tricks we have up our sleeves your going to love the live broadcasting features.
the core component of rezpondr a fast crawler that can handle thousands of feeds per subdomain and scales into the cloud from a pool of resources - we hope to get this recoded in c++ early jan or maybe python - something with native multithreading.
a neat feature that we born the idea out of watching vlomo videos was the autoplayer - this currently only works with the flv player from the site however because that allows us to playlist videos back to back whilst certain video sites that have their own branded video player cannot. The autoplayer allows you to select a row from your subdomain and play them back to back in auto mode. We hope to expand on this and have it by day/week/month/random and this time last year so you can get a nice revisit of your old stuff.
when you get an account at rezpondr you get 3 subdomains free of charge - you might want one for a event, party, wedding or some maybe a business layout or personal site. the subdomains are on a first come first served basis thou. We hope to expand this service so you can use a domain name of your choice.
one of the cool things about a rezpondr subdomain is that you can set it between two dates - so it might just be for a podcamp that you want the theme to work so you might only want to capture peoples videos that they post between two dates because you know they will be live streaming or onroute to/from the event - it's a useful feature. You can also do this per service type or the whole subdomain.
not only do we interface into api to grab the videos direct for your account we also have implemented a full search and the native seesmic plugin for watching and to login and reply from. Once the crawler has been recoded in c++ we might include the public timeline as well.
we currently support chipin.com for people to give donations - why do we have this on subdomains? - well, most of the time when small content producers or videobloggers go and spend there own time to cover an event they do it because the love for it. love does not come cheap thou and i think it's a polite way to show some love to the content producers for making free content streamed to the world.
One of the things we wanted to speed up for a small content producer was the distribution and remove that issue of having to update/make rss feeds for custom encodes. We have therefore created in the admin ability to select a destination, upload there, convert to many types and put in seperate directories and build a custom rss feed inside each directory so users of that device/format can get it directly. You could also if you wanted put these through feedburner to see what sort of subscription you are getting
just a simple hover effect when involving pictures, the picture will display in a hover instead of having to go to the website to view it (most of the picture rows will support this) - we are considering also bringing in the comments to be able to reply to these as well.
after meeting a great guy a nokia labs helsinki we got talking about reuters and the video content that they have stacks off - we intergrated part of the reuters api so we could match keywords of videos to other social media streams - we hope to improve on this in the coming months.
quite simply allows to drop down each row so you can have multiple lines
well, sorta. you see one of the major problems i find at events is the inability to video stream because everyone is trying to do the same thing. takes a lot of bandwidth. We built in support early on for a nifty little flash movie we had written to check to see if our shoutcast server was up and if so then enable a button that when clicked would load in winamp or itunes. It's only a 64kps stream but we think it is the perfect backup to a video stream that falls over - as long as you can hear the audio you can still talk in the chat at least instead of losing the whole experience.
