Holy geez what a year! Letâs look at the celebrity news highlights from 2009. Michael Jackson's death spawned a blockbuster movie and a homicide investigation. Tiger Woodsâ affairs thrust him into the negative spotlight. Jon and Kate Plus 8 owned 2009 television for all the wrong reasons. Season eight proved to be a rough one for American Idol. Following rumors of cat fighting between Paula and new judge Kara DioGuardi, Ms. Abdul announced she was bailing on the show and Ellen took her spot. Now, we're hearing Simon might be the next to go. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince owned the box office. The latest in the Potter series brought in 929 million dollars. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs performed respectably as well, while All About Steve and Miss March gave us a reason to envy the blind. That, and much more is ahead as we look back on the best and worst of 2009.
Britney Spears owned 2008, ain't no doubt on that one. The year started with Brit on a stretcher and ended with a number one album.
