Spanish dolphin EarthWatch expedition: Sept 06 This is a montage (nice way of saying 'odds and ends') of footage taken on board the Toftevaag. I've laid a bit of music down to spice it up a bit. Some of this footage was shot fairly late in the trip, as evidenced by the flapping clothing decorating the deck.
This event was held on Sunday off Sydney’s Eastern beaches. The course drawn between the first two Surf Life Saving clubs in the world. Starting in front of Bondi Surf Club, runs out from Bondi, around McKenzies point and down the coast into Bronte Beach. A distance of 2.2 - 2.5km (depending on the positioning of the buoy off McKenzies point).
I live in a city which is blessed with great natural beauty. Which can be a curse, cause very little effort is directed towards architecture or public sculpture. Luckily for us, each year there is a free sculpture walk along the beaches and cliffs. This is my interpretation.
More on the Surry Hills Fest. I like these community festivals cause all sorts of folks can be found wandering between the stalls. Lots of dogs and kids about too. This video is of the dog show, the seems to be traditional at these events.

This is a video featuring some of the people that made an effort to communicate their support for a verity of issue in entertaining ways.
small bird appeared while I was standing on the cliff
This piece is a compilation of two trips I’ve taken with research missions. The Oceania project August of 07 is studying the transitory Humpback whale population in Hervey bay, Queensland, Australia. Having spent the winter in the Great Barrier reef, giving birth to their calves, they journey down the coast of Australia returning to the Antarctic for the summer. The vessel was the Moon Dancer, and a small group of us had paid to volunteer to help with the research undertaken by Trish and Wally Franklin PhD. Spanish dolphin EarthWatch expedition: Sept 06. The mission started in 1992, after the Toftevaag had been restored and refitted The first project was the study of a mass die-off of the striped dolphin off the coast of Spain. Recently they have focused on monitoring of cetacean populations that have been suffering a regression in the Mediterranean over the last few decades. The research site chosen is the Alboran Sea, the transition zone between the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
These videos that I've been posting are from a holiday I took in August of 07. I spent some time in Hervey bay, on a boat, stalking the whales that visit the area. It’s not just about the seals. Kaidoura is also home to a bird nesting site. Lots of noisy seagulls and I took this video of some geese that walked past me while I was looking at the seals.
Spanish dolphin EarthWatch expedition: Sept 06 Frustrated with the bad weather that was sweeping the Mediterranean, we ventured out into high seas in search of dolphins to catalogue, in the restored sailing ship, the Toftevaag. I was very happy to be back in port that afternoon. I was told that the colour of my face matched the colour of my hat.
A stream of vision set to music.
Video taken during the APEC protest march in Sydney Australia. Shots of the protest march. Lots of banners, and some footage of one of the arrests. More video to follow
Initially I wasn’t particularly fussed about this group of politicians holding a meeting in Sydney. But then it became apparent that that our government officials were taking this little gathering wayyyyy too seriously. To the point were they were actively discouraging people from making their opinions felt with a public demonstration.
Here we see the Chief of Police, safe and sound behind his 'front line.'

A distance of 2.2 - 2.5km (depending on the positioning of the buoy off McKenzies point.) A final event was the Dash for Cash, where a group of boys, and a group of girls got to race each other out to a marker buoy, and back to the beach. First through the gate wins five hundred bucks.
While I was staying in Kaikoura, I spent a bit of time down at the seal colonies. This guy (or could be a girl) was basking in the sun. Humans are required to give the seals about ten meters of personal space and all of these videos were shot with a 10x zoom.
