I woke up in the morning with this song in my head. I went directly to my computer and wrote the first verse. Then I took a bath and wrote the second verse in the bath. I shot it in front of my neighbor's turnip patch. I had the video before noon.
This is a great easy to sing gospel song for singalongs cowritten with my father, songleader extraordinaire.
This is the title track on my "Sneakin Round" CD recorded by Hairy Larry and The Flying Hungarians back in the Blues Alley days. The lyric was short enough to be a SongPod so I did this video version. I love this song.
Hammering on is a guitar technique where you play a note and then hammer your finger down on the vibrating string producing a different note. Hammering up and down creates that little wiggle. Just like Jimi.
I got a press release from The Cadillac Zack Band. That's when I came up with the idea and most of the lyrics for this song. Three hours later and I was uploading the video.
I hear the melody from the first eight bars of the song as rung by bell pullers. I very much want to find someone to pull some bells for me and record the part. Anyway I hope this one rings your bell.
Hairy Larry's take on working for a living. Backed up by The Flying Hungarians at Blues Fest.
Yes, I have a campfire in my back yard. I was sitting around the campfire with my morning coffee in my hand when the idea for this song came to me. Of course I had to shoot it in front of the campfire.
This is a short tune as sung by a musician to his true love. Like Fish Scales this song changes chords on every beat. But in "Like A Thimble" the chords are all C or F.
I wrote this back in the Blues Alley days and have performed it many times for a live audience. It's a 16 bar blues with a nice shuffle rhythm and a lyric everyone can relate to.
Hairy Larry plays his acoustic guitar instrumental, Blue Canoe.
I like this minor blues with the driving bass part. One thing I learned from Stevie Ray. If you're gonna play the blues you gotta shake your face.
This perky little guitar piece goes out to Underground Toon and all my friends at the homerecording.com bbs.
I love Jazz and Blues so here's a blues change that uses a standard Jazz guitar technique, changing chords on every beat. Essentially you end up playing a melody with chords. Because of this Grasshopper Jump cooks right along.
I went to the library so I didn't start until around 3:00. It took several takes. The total production time was only eleven minutes. I had the video done shortly after 5:00. Mississippi Sax is a blues written for harp on a rack with a clever lyric.
Never Say Never is a jazzy short cut written and performed by Hairy Larry on acoustic guitar.
It got hot and I opened the window. The birds sang along and they helped me with the title too. At the end of the video I get to find out what the big time is like with the bright lights in your eyes. A chirpy tune, happy and upbeat.
This is a pretty song and I was going for a dreamy feel to the video. Hairy Larry, lost in space, playing his guitar.
This is a protest song about corruption in DC inspired by Scooter Libby, Alberto Gonzales, and George Bush. I hate leaving Cheney out but I only had time for two verses. Please feel free to rewrite it including your favorite corrupt politician.
I wrote this Blues this morning and had the video done by 9:00 am. I made all the renders and I'm uploading it before noon. That's the power of music distribution on the internet. You can find many downloadable formats at http://archive.org/details/moonstruck_blues Thanks, Hairy Larry
