L.A. Salon Teaches White Parents To Care For Black Hair
Many white parents who adopt Black children struggle with caring for the child's hair, hell, I'm Black and I struggle with my own hair! My hair stylist Althea Reynolds, originally from Jamaica, and a stylist at the Spice Salon in Los Angeles, saw an opportunity with the white parents' challenge as a change to offer valuable lessons in Black hair care. I attended the workshop and it's funny the little things you just take for granted when you're Black. For example, a comb, a brush, oil, and moisturizer. Props to Althea for having the courage to do this. It's controversial enough that white's are adopting Black kids from Africa (deep breath), but then to hold a workshop on how to do their hair...
Only in L.A. can you ice skate outside while it's 80 degrees...
