Are they a passing aftermath of her surgery, Sydney's mind adjusting to sight, a product of her imagination, or something horrifyingly real? As Sydney's family and friends begin to doubt her sanity, Sydney is soon convinced that her anonymous eye donor has somehow opened the door to a terrifying world only she can now see. A live-action movie based on the anime was produced in 2006, directed by Katsuhiro Otomo, famous for creating the print and film versions of Akira. Its world premiere was held at the 2006 Venice Film Festival and it opened as a roadshow theatrical release in Japanese theaters on 2007-03-24. It consists of episodes 3, 7, 12 and 20 of the anime. The cast consists of Joe Odagiri, as Ginko, Makiko Esumi as Nui and YÅ« Aoi as Tanyuu who appears in episode 20, among others.

In the distant future, a polluted world has been overtaken by havoc-wreaking creatures called filth monsters. Humanity, having been forced to relocate itself, must live in isolated mobile cities called Regios. A mysteriously skilled fighter named Layfon Alseif enrolls in the Academy city of Zuellni and is immediately noticed by Nina Antalk, leader of the 17th Military Arts Unit.
