- Do I need to sign up to use Veoh?
Certain features of Veoh are only available to signed up users. If you
try to access one of these features you will automatically be requested
to log in (if you have an account) or create one (it is completely free
and can be done in seconds). By creating an account you will be able to
comment on videos, message other users and broadcast your own video
content, and create your own channel! You need to have a free Veoh user
account to use the Veoh Player software.
- Do I need to install the Veoh Player software?
You are able to browse Veoh.com and watch streaming versions of the
videos, create an account and participate in the Veoh community and
even start broadcasting your own videos using just your browser and
Veoh.com. When you are ready to download the original quality version
of a video delivered to your computer, watch a video when not connected
to the internet, or "subscribe" for automatic delivery of a channel of
videos you need the Veoh Player installed on your Mac.
- How do I get the Veoh Player software?
Just go to any page on Veoh.com and select the "Download" link at the
top right of your screen. You will also be automatically prompted to
download the Player if you select a feature that requires the Player
and have not yet downloaded and installed the software.
- What is required to run the Veoh Player software on a Mac? The Veoh Player runs on Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later on both PowerPC and Intel Macs with the following requirements.
- Minimum System Requirements
- Mac OS X 10.3.9 or newer
- 500 Mhz CPU
- 1 GB available HDD space
- 256 MB of RAM
- 800 x 600 screen resolution
- QuickTime 7 or newer
- Internet connection
- For Optimal Performance
- Mac OS X 10.4.8
- 1.5+ Ghz CPU
- 10+ GB available HDD space
- 512 MB of RAM
- 1024 x 768 screen resolution
- QuickTime 7.1
- DSL/Cable or better
- Install Flip4Mac
- Install DivX
- What are the bandwidth requirements for the Veoh Player?
The Veoh Player requires a broadband Internet connection to upload or
download video files. Actual bandwidth requirements depend on your
usage. If you have a cable modem, DSL line or other high speed
connection you should be fine.
Unfortunately dial-up connections, typically including ISDN, are not
supported for Veoh. The upload and download speeds associated with
dial-up are generally not sufficient to support moving large, high
resolution, full length video files with any technology.
- What components are installed with the Veoh Player?
- The
Veoh Player interface (Veoh.exe on Windows, Veoh.app on OSX) which is
launched when you want to view or manage your Veoh videos.
- The
Veoh delivery service (veohd only on OSX) This is a service (or daemon)
component that runs in the background and is responsible for
downloading and uploading content. It periodically contacts Veoh
servers to keep up to date. This component communicates only to the
Veoh servers and sends only that information required to upload and
download user requested content. This service is required for Veoh to
operate.

- What videos can I watch using the Veoh Player software?
You can watch any video you find on Veoh.com using your Veoh Player
software (as long as you have the correct player software installed.)
While browsing on Veoh.com you can select "download this video" to have
any single full-length, full-quality version delivered to your Veoh
Player. You can also "subscribe" to a channel of videos, all videos from
a user or all videos with a specific tag - and any new videos will
automatically be delivered to your Veoh Player.
- How long does it take to get my videos delivered to the Veoh Player?
Videos that are currently being delivered to your Veoh Player can be
found in the Downloads section in the Veoh Player. These lists will
show you videos that you have selected, or have been added for one of
your subscriptions, that are currently being delivered by the Veoh
distribution network to your PC. Delivery time is determined by a
number of factors, including the speed of your internet connection, the
size of the video (length and video quality) and what else you are
doing on the machine while it is downloading (Veoh limits its use of
your bandwidth if you need it for other activities).
- How do I find videos that have been delivered to my player?
By selecting "Library" on the Veoh Player you can see all the videos
that are currently available for playback. You can also view your
Library by subsets, such as all New videos (those you haven't seen) or
by Category, Channel or Broadcaster. You can also create your own
playlists to organize videos in your Veoh library.
- How much space do the downloaded videos take up on my hard drive?
You determine how much of your hard drive space is allocated to the
Veoh Player for local video content. This is specified in the settings
in the Veoh Player.
- When I first started the Veoh Player, some videos had been downloaded to my system. How did they get there?
When the Veoh Player is installed, we provide you with some
subscriptions to get you started. You can unsubscribe to these channels
from the Veoh Player Library at any time, or delete any of the
individual videos downloaded as a part of these channels.
