Software Engineer, Search

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with a team of engineers and product management on Veoh’s search systems.
• Support and extend search indexing system using SOLR and Lucene.
• Implement systems and tools to optimize and tune search results.
• Drive improvements in search algorithms and performance.
• Work with Team Lead and other engineers on scheduling and task breakdowns.
• Be responsible for timely, high quality code deliveries.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years professional experience writing Java in a large production environment.
• SQL language proficiency required.
• Experience developing code to interface with high volume MySQL or Oracle databases.
• Creative problem solver with excellent trouble-shooting skills
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with open source commercial reporting or statistical packages a plus.
• Experience with Apache Lucene or SOLR or similar indexing technology a plus.
