  The White Stupa at the Miaoying temple, originally called the divine Sarira Stupa of Shakyamuni began construction in the eighth year of the Zhiyuan reign of the Yuan Dynasty(1271A.D.)The site was personally surveyed and chosen by Kublai Khan, the shizu emperor of the Yuan dynasty. It was designed and constructed by Nepalese artist Arniko.
