Scott Ritter on Waging Peace: The Art of War for the Antiwar Movement
Ex Marine and UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter advises the antiwar movement to study the art of war to help enable it to wag and win a campaign for peace. We are, in fact, in a conflict now and the consequences of losing are stark – the lose of our Constitution and the end of America as we know it.
Dr. Caldicott explains the nuclear fuel cycle and that, over the life of a nuclear power plant (which couldn’t be built without tax payer subsidies), the plant puts out the same amount of greenhouse gases as a fossil fuel plant does. In addition, we are left to store the spent fuel rods for the next half million years. She does provide alternatives and points out that the sun provides us with three times the energy we need every day. Dr. Caldicott also explains the medical effects of nuclear power and the madness of stockpiling nuclear arms.
A new 11 minute video by Plenty International features recent (August 2007) interviews with four Katrina Survivors who are still waiting for help promised by Federal and State governments through the "Road Home" program to get out of their cramped and toxic FEMA trailers and back into their homes. All four live in the Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans or the town of Arabi in the adjacent St. Bernard Parish. All four are among the folks Plenty has been assisting within the limits of our funding and available skilled volunteers. Their stories are heart-breaking but their resolute spirit and determination are inspiring. It is appalling to realize that there are tens of thousands more just like them. These are voices that deserve a national microphone.

Work locally and/or join Code Pink in DC to walk the halls of congress demanding peace and diplomacy. Medea Benjamin, Cofounder of Code Pink, speaking to the 2007 Green Festival in Washington, DC.
