One Saturday, in June, 2008, he finally obeyed and set up a BBQ tent at the Market City Flea Market (which is owned and operated by his church Embassies of Christ) in Gary, Indiana. Big Daddy and his wife went out there with one grill. Two weeks later, it was the two of them plus three more crew members with two additional grills. Originally, his menu consisted of just Rib Tips and that grew to a full menu of: Ribs, Rib Tips, Jerk Chicken, Hot Links, Turkey Hot Links, Hot Dogs, Turkey Burgers, & Turkey Legs Occasionally he would feature a new item as "Special Of The Week"ÃÂ Thanking the Lord, his Pastor, Cedric Oliver, the Members of Embassies of Christ, the City of Gary and the Chicagoland area communities, (not to forget Steve Harvey) he has five grills cooking, which often is not enough to fulfill the demand for his...Big Daddy's BBQ...and the rest is history.

Sickle Cell Anemia is a disease of the red blood cells. It can be passed from one generation to the next and affects mainly black people in America. It is an inherited illness and is not contagious. It is called sickle cell because some of the red blood cells are long and shaped like sickles. Normal red blood cells are round. About 1 in 500 Black Americans are born with Sickle Cell Anemia. Sickle Cell Trait is not a disease. It is a carrier state of the disease in which a gene for abnormal hemoglobin is inherited. About 1 in 10 African Americans are born with Sickle Cell Trait and locally, 1 in 5 African Americans in Northwest Indiana have either the trait or the disease.
