The US is not a truly democratic nation. We live in a representative democracy. Our influence comes from our representatives. Constantly we choose the status quo. The top 25 longest serving senators began their service within the last fifty years. Longevity of rule is corrosive to honest rule. The privilege becomes right and morals are casualty. Pointing fingers requires pointing to ourselves. The status quo becomes our comfort blanket and we are lulled to sleep while our voice is stolen in then night.
