Babbage Cabbage - Mixed Reality Lab, Singapore, Adrian David Cheok : Empathetic living media is the revolutionary system that enables the use of living creatures as controllable ambient display. Information based on human and natural information is quantified digitally and communicated in the form of ambient display by computer controlling the color of red cabbage, thus creating a novel media that is alive. This display shows significant organic and human aspects of an individual life, ecology, or society and enriches the semantics between mapping of the living organisms to such considerations. The control of this display is achieved with a control system which monitors the pH level to change the color of the red cabbage. This research was not aimed at only producing a working prototype, but also through the design and experimentation results to construct wide issues of design patterns and frameworks for new types of empathetic living media.

Huggy Pajama - Mixed Reality Lab, Singapore, Adrian David Cheok : Huggy Pajama is a novel wearable system that promotes physical interaction in remote communication between parents and children. We presented a design space table which helps to locate the IP system in its current configuration and indicates the variables that can be explored in various configurations. Some key contributions include the ability to reproduce a hug between two people remotely. Also, we incorporated cute and color changing interfaces for the conveyance of emotions and mood between parent and children.

Confucius Computer - Mixed Reality Lab, Singapore, Adrian David Cheok : Confucius Computer is a new form of illogical computing algorithms based on the Eastern paradigms of balance and harmony, which are radically different from the ancient Greek logic normally experienced in computing. The system uses new media to revive and model these historical philosophies and teachings, presenting them in new contexts, such as online social chat, music and food. This enables people to experience and explore the ancient culture using the literacy of digital interactivity. The system core is a virtual Confucius which can appear as a friend in online social groups for instance, ``Facebook''. Confucius computer also allows absurd Confucius dietary advice based on the Yin-Yang concept of balance.
