O'Donnell after Extreme Makeover: Autism and 5 kids
This is Jeanette OâÂÂDonnell, mom to six children. Five have autism. You might recognize her from Extreme Makeover Home Edition. In 2007, her family received a beautiful new home. âÂÂItâÂÂs as if angels came in and lifted us up, made it perfect,â OâÂÂDonnell marveled. For the first time since the show, hear her talk about her life, and how she wants moms to stop judging others' choices and focus on the kids. She advocates for the autism community to come together, forget battles over cause and treatment, and instead, get society ready for these children and these children ready for society. OâÂÂDonnell blogs on Trusera . com regularly, and is sometimes criticized for not focusing on âÂÂcuringâ her kids. She has found many therapies that have helped her children grow and thrive. OâÂÂDonnell wishes all parents could be supported - not criticized - for the choices they make. Lyme Disease: A phone call saved my life and inspired Trusera
Keith Schorsch went through ten doctor visits, many months, yet no one could tell him why he was in so much pain. Finally, a phone call from a friend changed everything. "Get checked for Lyme disease," she advised. Sure enough, Keith soon learned he had Lyme. If left untreated, it can lead to facial paralysis, extreme joint pain, and chronic fatigue. In this video, Keith and his wife, Jennifer, share their harrowing story, and the good that came out of it: a changed outlook on life, a stronger relationship, and a thriving online health community, Trusera.com. The friend that called them saved Keith’s life; Trusera was founded on a belief in the power of friends like this, those who have been through it. Out of a bleak outlook came an idea, Trusera, which aims to help people find and share health insights and recommendations with others who have been there. www.trusera.com

Triple negative breast cancer at 36, life with the BRCA1 gene
Meet Kim and Stephanie, 39-year-old fraternal twins. Diagnosed about three years ago, they are both survivors of triple-negative breast cancer and both have the BRCA1 gene. Only five percent of women have that gene, but those that do are much more likely to get breast cancer one day. The twist? They are adopted, and didn’t know that their birth mother and grandmother both died of the same cancer as theirs. Fortunately, after double mastectomies and hysterectomies, Kim and Stephanie are doing great. They strongly advocate for easier access to family medical records for the adopted, and for early BRCA gene testing for those with a family history. Hear them share about dating, breast reconstruction, and why an annual mammogram isn’t enough. Autism is not forever: Bill and Jo Krueger share their story of hope
This is the Krueger family. You might know Bill Krueger – former major league baseball player with the Oakland A’s and Seattle Mariners, among other teams. He and his wife, Jo, have a 16-year-old daughter with autism. They say she’s recovered, and as you’ll see in the video, she is thriving. They share all the secrets – from diet to therapies to their at-home activities – that made Chanel better. She’s gone from a non-verbal 3-year-old to a chatty, funny, delightful teenager. And the family? They are the exception to the average 80% divorce rate for families of children with autism. They’ve stayed together through all their struggles. Beyond that, they have founded an autism center to help teens and adults make their way in the world.
