Interesting events encountered by us during the ministry.
The headman's son Deresa (an aborigine) was drowned while fishing in the swollen river. 12 other person including both our teachers accompanied him to the river. After more than 10 minutes at the bottom of the river, his lifeless body was retrieved. Thank God for His grace and mercy to thes new believers by resurrecting Deresa. The villagers faith were strenghtened and God prepared them to faced the persecution of those `abusers of authority'.
Interesting and exciting events in the year 2006 where the journeys were extremely difficult and dangerous in slippery conditions. Over 700 were baptized into the Body of Christ.
Interesting events this year with more permanent churches built and more area evangelized. First church in Kg. Jias, Kelantan demolished by the local authority.
Almost the whole village of Kg. Jias was baptized by March 2007 and having no place to worship God they requested us to help. Christians supplied the fund for the building materials and the villagers volunteered to build the church themselves and with our guidance. However, this newly built church in Kelantan which is ruled by the opposition party PAS an Islamic political party was demolished by the local authority on 4th June 2007. To comfort the grieved brethren, we held an impromptu worship service and our Father in heaven as expected comforted them (His children). http://www.gospel2poor.org
Gospel to the Poor was founded in early 1988 with the vision of reaching the poor in the villages in Malaysia. Initially we worked amongst the poor in the Chinese villages in Perak. In 1994. the Lord led us to work among the Chinese villagers in Pahang. We covered over 80 villagers and started more than 30 Chinese churches. These churches were either handed over to churches in nearby towns or they became independent churches. In 1998, the Lord added an extra dimension to this ministry by sending us deep into the jungle of Malaysia bringing the good tidings to the Aborigines (Orang Asli). and to date over 4,500 souls (former animists) were baptized into the Body of our Lord Jesus Christ.
