I love this movie! Il Mare stars Jun Ji-hyun and Lee Jung-Jae. The title, Il Mare, means 'The Sea' in Italian, and is the name of the seaside house which is the setting of the story. The Korean title means "time-transcending love." The two protagonists both live there two years apart in time, but are able to communicate through a mysterious post box. The story begins at the tail end of 1999, as voiceover actress Eun-joo (Jun Ji-hyun) moves out of a seaside home named 'Il Mare'. Before leaving, Eun-joo leaves a Christmas card in the mailbox, with a message asking the eventual new owner to forward any mail of hers to her new address in the city. Meanwhile, exactly two years prior in 1997, Il Mare's first owner, architect Sung-hyun (Lee Jung-jae, who recently co-starred opposite Shim Eun-ha in "The Interview"), receives Eun-joo's card. Thinking it to be a joke, he writes back to Eun-joo and asks her not to tamper with his mailbox anymore, while pointing out that the 'current year' is 1997.

First off, I just want to let anyone know, the star system that I used is different than the American 4 Star System... 1 Being the lowest, 4 being the Highest. Well, let's face it, Korean Movies are better than American Movies :P... usually. So, in this case. 3 Korean Stars = 4 American Stars. So a 2 Korean Star Movie is still pretty freaking good. It would be a 3 American Star Movie. I put this collage together in the order I think that are best. Please don't get mad because you think my critique is incorrect. I might've given a higher score to a specific movie, because it got to me as a personal connection, something I can relate to. Half of this is graded on personal connection and half on professionally. Obviously I have not seen every single K-movie out there, so this review is the best 15 IMO I have seen so far. If you wonder why I've given a movie this score, you're more than welcome to PM me to ask why I did, or if you're lazy... post it. The song is "I Believe" by Shin Sung Hun.
