Runtime: 0:09 seconds; it’s short, but very interesting. Remember, this was a real event, NOT a manipulated picture or a special effect. That’s what makes this cool. “This video clip was captured at the 500 kV Eldorado substation near Boulder City, Nevada by power company engineers and maintenance staff. It shows a three-phase air disconnect switcher attempting to open the high voltage supply to a large three phase shunt line reactor. The power company was having difficulty cleanly disconnecting one phase of the line reactor and had set up a special test to videotape a switching event so that they could diagnose the problem. The engineers had also made arrangements to “kill” the experiment by manually tripping an upstream circuit breaker.” Taken from teslamania.delete.org/frames/longarc.htm ; you can read the full article there.
This is comedy. You'll figure it out, so I won't blow it for you. Enjoy!
Pretty standard, GPS-satellite-carrying $45,000,000.00-Cape-Canaveral rocket-exploding, and melting-car-tires, stuff(!). But what amazed me was the NASA Mission Control lady calling it an "anomaly." Watch it again, and imagine the end of the world!
Elephants Dream is the world’s first open movie, made entirely with open source graphics software
