Please watch the tutorial videos first. Be sure important files are backed up. 1. The cleanup kit should be installed on a thumb drive (flash drive) so you can use it on any computer. 2. Insert the thumb drive into a computer that is not infected and update all of the software. 3. Start the infected PC in the Safe Mode, (no network/internet connection). a. Turn on the computer b. Hit the F8 key a few times as the computer is starting. c. Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode. d. Hit the Enter key. e. Once you are in the Safe Mode, un-install the antivirus and antispyware software that is currently installed on the PC. It is important to do this before you start the cleaning process to avoid software conflicts. At some point in the process you will be installing new antivirus software. You may need to do the un-install in the normal mode, but try it in the Safe Mode first, it will go faster if you can do it in this mode. f. Insert the thumb drive into a USB port on the infected PC. 4. Use the Start menu and choose Computer. 5. Select the flash drive and open it. 6. Find the Ultimate Cleanup Kit, open it and do the cleaning as outlined in the video tutorial. 7. Use the utilities in the order they are listed, i.e., 1-2-3-4-5-6. 8. After you have removed all of the virus and malware infections, use the Iobit toolkit to clean the registry, junk files, and defrag the computer. You can also use the windows registry cleaner to complete the cleaning. 9. Run at least one set of scans ( 1-2-3-4 ) in the normal mode with an active internet connection.

To get a free Avast download, go to the products tab, "Desktop Protection" - "Home Edition". MSE is a stand alone program, don't combine it with other antivirus or antispyware programs. Generally speaking, a combination of two programs will give your PC a higher level of protection than a single program. A good combination is Avast or Avira antivirus and Iobit 360 antispyware. These programs are compatible and will work on any version ( 64 bit or 32 bit) of Windows - XP, Vista, or Windows 7. 2. Antispyware: Choose one - Spyware Doctor or Iobit 360. These provide real time monitoring and protection. I mentioned Malwarebytes in the video, but the free version no longer provides any real time monitoring. Spyware Doctor with antivirus is a stand-alone program, don't combine it with other anti-spyware or antivirus programs. Spybot S&D also has a real time monitoring system, but we don't recommend it as a primary anti-spyware due to the fact that the Spybot Tea Timer can conflict with other security software on your PC and affect performance. This can slow down the computer significantly. Spybot Tea Timer also has a lot of pop-up warnings so we don't recommend installing it. The free versions of SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, and Advanced System Protector are good secondary scanners and removal tools but provide no real time protection. Hitman Pro has the reputation of being a good virus and malware cleaning tool. The paid versions of all the software do provide real time protection, and can block malicious software from installing on your computer.

The free software will protect you from virus, malware, spyware, hackers, phishing, scams, fraud web sites, and a lot more. A good security program begins with four basic components: (1) Antivirus, (2) Antispyware, (3) a good firewall, and (4) a secure web browser. The other components are optional, just add the ones you want. If you have an older computer, installing too much software may slow it down.
