the story of 1 Litre Of Tears is based on true story of a japanese girl who had suffered with a desease called “spinocerebellar degeneration.” a terrible incurable disease that gradually deteriorates a part of patient’s brain to the point where the he/she can no longer walk, speak, write or even swallow. she was diagnosed when she was only 15 years old. she kept writing her diary about her thoughts, her life and her experieces to remember that she was alive until the time when she could no longer hold her pen. Aya's only wish was “to live." By carefully depicting Aya's earnest desire to live, and the love of her family, friends, and lover, the drama, “One Litre of Tears" wishes to deliver her simple but strong message: “Just being alive is such a lovely and wonderful thing."
