Ginko is sent in search of another Mushi Master, this one the guardian of a mountain, neighbor to a village. An old man whose past is not unlike Ginko's own, he was once called upon to take up a god's duties and maintain balance A mantle not lightly assumed, caused by careless words and magnificent death. But as the cry of a great mushi predator tolls in the night and the apprentice is found an untrue successor, Ginko rushes to great heights only to play witness to noble deed.

The investigation of the haunted school continues and the casualties are stacking up. Yet Naru has vanished, leaving the other members of the research team to fend for themselves.
A school is held captive by death and fear, supposed ghosts lashing out at the living. When the principal joins the ranks of those victimized, an exorcism begins under the watch of skeptics and believers alike.
Freshman Mai Taniyama's love for the telling of ghost stories seems to have unleashed a plague of spirits upon her school. Kazuya Naru Shibuya of the Shibuya Psychic Research team enlists Mai to aid in his research.

Final Episode 26: Vive ("Live!") - Kurono gets teleported back to the time right before he got killed, but this time the train stops in time right before it hits him.
Episode 25: Regresemos con vida ("Let's Go Back Alive") - The team tracks the bum hunters to a funeral home and a firefight breaks out.
Episode 24: Ningun laberinto es inescapable (No Maze is Inescapable!") - The team realize the bum hunters are psycho and team up with Kurono to try and stop them.
Episode 23: Kurono alienigena ("Kurono Alien") - Gantz makes Kurono the target! Everyone sees Kurono as the person that killed them.
Episode 22: No lo vuelvas a decir ("Don't Ever Say That Again") - Having barely survived the last mission, Kurono is drawn back in. This time the players include the bookshop clerk, his teacher, and the bum hunters. The rest introduce themselves and Kurono snaps.

Episode 20: Disparame ("Shoot Me") - The battle with the statues continues, with tragic consequences.
