I haven't lost my edge, girl... I just don't live on it anymore.
Once upon a time/ I dated a chef
Sheherazade did not finish the story. Sheherazade only told half of the story and, once again, she said to her sister, "Tomorrow night, if the king allows me, I will tell you the rest of the story." Once again, the sister left. Once again, the king decided to let Sheherazade live just one more night. This continued for another night, and then another night and then another night. Every night, Sheherazade finished the story she had started the previous night. Then, every night, Sheherazade started a new and wonderful story. Every night, the king was so anxious to hear the end of the story that he decided to allow Sheherazade to live just one more night.
For those who haven't heard it in a while.
This poem is about summertime.
The first release off the Failed Cartographer album, the video was shot close to midnight, in Jana's apartment. It is meant to be simple & raw. No effects, no color, one angle, one cut, live and pure...the essence of the craft. A guitar and a voice, back to the basics. The new album "Failed Cartographer" is available at www.janapochop.com
On 12.09.06, I did a one-woman slam "recital," if you will. The show took place at the Gift Theatre in Chicago. I invited several special guest performers to jump in for a couple numbers, including Lisa Buscani, Robbie Q. Telfer, Dan Sullivan, and Tim Stafford. Over the next few months, as the HD footage is being edited, I plan to post the poems that were presented in the show. In the meantime, go to www.maryfons.com to read my daily blog, "papergirl." I make my living writing and performing, and you can check out my resume on the website, also. Word.
