Actually, the technique does work. Architects have to build dampening systems into tall buildings to prevent wind oscillations from vibrating the skyscrapers to pieces. See Tacoma Bridge. The World Trade Center, for example, had a resonant frequency of 10 cycles per second - and could be brought down with an oscillating device using that frequency. A simple IC-555 timer from Radio Shack would do the trick with some simple circuit additions and maybe 300 watts output. The Earth's resonant frequency (7.83 Hz) is known as the Schumann Frequency.

thats interesting but you sure about the earths resonant frequency i thought it was 8.73 Hz though i might of just got the numbers mixed up in my head
