Based on the autobiography of writer Jerry Stahl, “Permanent Midnight” is a gripping and haunting portrait of drug addiction. Ben Stiller (“Meet the Parents”) plays TV writer Stahl, who develops a severe heroin addiction that ruins both his marriage to Elizabeth Hurley and his career. Maria Bello plays an addict listening to his life story.

Not bad, as far as accounts of addiction go. I wouldn't watch it again, but for anyone who thinks the premise sounds interesting, go for it.
