A lot of work went into this opening, but it still didn't make the final cut! As the first deleted scene, see how an earlier draft of the movie started. This video includes both the original intro scene (Simon at his mothers, later changed to a black-and-white flashback sequence) and the confrontation between Simon and his father Johann (only mentioned in the final draft of the film.)
