The Story of James Bond - A Tribute to Ian Fleming

London: 5 October 2008 If Ian Fleming were alive, he'd be 100 years old this year. Put that together with the upcoming release of Quantum of Solace and you have a great reason to re-assemble all the Bond-folk you can find, get them to the Palladium, add a few clips and a good script, and hey presto! there's a two hour TV special. I rushed over to the venue at ten a.m. to find no-one about other than a few of my fan-mates shivering and soaked. I joined them but nothing happened until after noon. We camped outside the stage door entrance and this capturista captured a steady stream of celebs throughout the freezing, rainy afternoon. At five it was time to switch to the front of the theatre and just in time too. Roger Moore arrived. Although he didnt sign, he was happy to interact with the sparse fanline. There wasnt much publicity for this gig so the faithful numbered in the tens not hundreds. Things started to get busy then as the stars arrived for the show. As the Palladium concourse is ill lit, I tried out my new video light. Video cameras love light and it worked a treat. It will be standard equipment for me at future events. Highlight of the evening was the arrival (last of course) of current Bond, Daniel Craig, the object of my fanline neighbour's affections. She didn't get his autograph though - Daniel has a broken paw. He was wearing a very stylish black satin sling on his right arm and looked to be in a lot of discomfort. He did sign a couple of left handed autographs before he did his media duties and was whisked inside by partner Satsuki Mitchell. Once that was over I headed for home and some sweet dreams. Ah Daniel...
