British Fashion Awards 2008 - Arrivals

London: 25 November 2008 Flash Alert! Flash Alert! An unusual off-patch gig today at the British Fashion Awards. Seeing as the venue The Lawrence Hall was in the back streets of Westminster and there wasnt much publicity, very few fans found their way there. It was only the handful of tourists who wandered by filling the few fan-spaces for most of the afternoon. There may have been few fans but there were lots of photographers and that turned the place into strobe-o-rama as all their flashes machine gunned incessantly to catch the celebs youll see in Wednesdays papers. No autograph hunters or two-heads-please pictures were around so the photographers had plenty of time to request poses from the attendees. I had to switch my spot to get better shots and that meant more flashes into the lens. Happily the Panasonic SD100 I use copes really well with flashes and the autofocus remains rock solid, unlike the Sony HC9 I used previously which would lose its autofocus capability completely when in confronted by a bank of fifty simultaneously strobing paparazzi.
