London: 11 December 2008 It was celeb-o-rama today. The Royal Variety Performance 2008 is an annual charity event in aid of the Entertainment Artistes Benevolent Fund attended by the UKs Royal family. It means dozens of stars traipse in and out of the Palladium all day for rehearsals and performance and finale. It is a major logistical challenge. No one can depend of vehicle arrival because the entire area gets snarled up. And thats just vehicles. The entire ecosystem around a red-carpet event means lots of people show up to add to the jam too. A crowd of fans of any star, autograph seekers, photograph seekers, tourists, security, media, PR folk and myself gathers. Being a capturadora means capturing the event so others can experience it too. One thing viewers dont have to experience is the chilliness. It was freezing as it mostly is seven months of the year here. I arrived late at twelve noon and had already missed a few going in. There was quite a crowd all day so leaving my spot for the bathroom was a once in twelve hour treat. How we suffer for our art. As usual, please let me know of omissions, errors and comments.
