Theatrical trailer for the delightful 1950 comedy, KILL THE UMPIRE, starring William Bendix, Una Merkel and William Frawley. One of the screen's most popular character actors, Bendix war a former grocer, who turned actor in New York during the Depression. He garnered critical acclaim for for his stage performace of Krupp, the Cop in William Saroyan's THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE, and was soon was signed to a contract by Hal Roach. Though perhaps best remembered for portraying the dim-witted, but good-natured "Chester A. Riley" on the LIFE OF RILEY radio and television series (there was also a feature film in 1949), Bendix received an Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination for his third film, WAKE ISLAND.
