London: 23 April 2009 Earplugs are a good thing to have at premieres like this one. Thousands of kids screaming at top of voice makes an unforgettable impression on the eardrums. And scream they do. From 4:00pm it starts and continues for three hours. But I get ahead of myself. The day starts early for me. By seven I am down on the Square to get my spot. I am not the first. Half a dozen fans are already there. So I park myself in the usual place and sit down for the long wait. A nice day is promised, yet in the shade it is still chilly. I tag team with some fan mates to slip away for couple of hours and am summoned back after an hour and a half because there is pressure on the space. The schools must be empty today judging by the number of youngsters arriving. Miley is enormously popular among the young and the pushing brings that home. Thirty or so dancers performed on the purple and yellow carpet to get the crowd whipped into a frenzy and the crowd go wild. The audience start to arrive in their finery. The kids especially go to town on their look. Cut to the arrival of the star and her Dad. Pandemonium. She is dressed in silver and her Dad in black. They spend loads of time at the fanline signing and occasionally posing. There is plenty of media duty for them to take care of too, as well and being papped by at least three separate groups. She goes inside and on to the balcony of the Odeon to announce a December tour. More deafening screams. Then it is inside for her to introduce the film, before heading off to do a TV appearance leaving us all exhausted and ready to rush home to get this edited and out Stars in attendance: Miley Cyrus Billy Ray Cyrus Brandi Cyrus Peter Chelsom, Director As usual, please let me know of omissions, errors and comments.
