This website and video blog is a bi-weekly film critique of contemporary cinema as reported by Joy to her granddaughter, Shauna. The video blogs also include scene reenactments of pivotal moments from the film being reviewed as well as Joy’s personal reflections and stories. They also serve as records of the pair’s outings to the movies together in Los Angeles, California. Other web community members are encouraged to play an active role in the site through submitting reports, through written texts and images, about the activities they partake in with their grandparents, friends and/or other relatives of varying generations. This portion of “Movies With Grandma Joy” is called “What We Do With Heart.” It is the site producer’s hope that such a forum will encourage cross-generational respect, understanding and commonality.
