My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU (やはり俺の青春ラブコメはまちがっている。 Yahari Ore no Seishun Rabu Kome wa Machigatteiru., lit. "My youth romantic comedy is wrong as I expected."), also known in the short forms Hamachi (はまち?), OreGairu (俺ガイル), is a Japanese light novel series written by Wataru Watari and illustrated by Ponkan8. There are four ongoing manga adaptations and two anthology volumes. It has been adapted into an anime television series, which aired between April 5 and June 28, 2013. A video game, titled Yahari Game demo Ore no Seishun Rabu Kome wa Machigatteiru. and published by 5pb., for the PlayStation Vita is scheduled to be released on September 19, 2013. The story follows loners, the pragmatic Hachiman Hikigaya and beautiful Yukino Yukinoshita who despite their varying personalities and ideals, offer help and advice to others as part of their school's Service Club. It largely depicts various social situations faced by teens in a high school setting and the psychology driving their interactions. A 12-episode anime television series, directed by Ai Yoshimura and produced by Brain's Base aired between April 5 and June 21, 2013, with an additional anime-original episode with writing by Wataru Watari following the series on June 28, 2013. The series was simulcast with English subtitles by Crunchyroll.[30] An OVA episode will be bundled on Blu-ray Disc with the limited edition of the video game, which is scheduled to be released on September 19, 2013. The opening theme is "Yukitoki" (ユキトキ) by Nagi Yanagi and the ending is "Hello Alone" by Saori Hayami and Nao Tōyama. The anime has been licensed by Sentai Filmworks in North America and Madman Entertainment in Australia. Hachiman Hikigaya (比企谷 八幡 Hikigaya Hachiman) Voiced by: Takuya Eguchi Hachiman is the story's main protagonist. Hachiman is a student in class 2F of Sōbu High School who is isolated, friendless and pragmatic to a fault. His most prominent feature is his set of "dead fish-eyes". He firmly believes that "youth" is simply an illusion created by hypocrites, for hypocrites, born from the ashes of past failures. In this state of apparent corruption, he is coerced into joining the service club by his futures advisor in the hopes that exposing him to the world will change his personality, and ultimately make him a "better person". He is ranked third in school for language subjects, but is incredibly bad at science. Hachiman believes that he is insignificant and thus is willing to take on blames in order to keep everyone else happy. He is called "Hikki" affectionately by Yui. On the first day of high school, he was involved in a car accident while trying to save Yui's dog which resulted in a 3 week hospital stay. He thinks that Yui's feelings for him are due to guilt, and thus indirectly rejected Yui, thinking that he would cause trouble for her. He distanced himself from Yukino after realizing that the car which rammed into him belonged to Yukino. Yukino Yukinoshita (雪ノ下 雪乃 Yukinoshita Yukino) Voiced by: Saori Hayami Yukino is a student in class 2J and the leader of the service club, of which she is the sole member until Hachiman joins. She is from a wealthy family, smart, beautiful, and is nicknamed the "Ice-cold Beauty" for her icy demeanor. Due to her popularity with boys, she is envied by most girls, and is disgusted by their attitude to undermine her instead of improving themselves, thus she has few friends. She has a twisted sense of "noblesse oblige", and believes that it is the duty of the exceptional (in other words, herself) to help the "lost lambs" of the world. Her personality often leads her to be disgusted at the naivete of others, particularly Yui's, and she does not hesitate to show it. Despite this, Yui still affectionately calls her "Yukinon". She recognizes Hachiman from the car accident, but lied about it when Hachiman joined the service club. After the cultural festival, while she still does not recognize Hachiman as a friend, she recognizes him as an acquaintance.
